With the seemingly juiced ball this year, .200/.300/.500 is a surprisingly legitimate way to be effective.

Presuming that Heyward is not so stupid to opt-out of his contract, it looks like Almora is relegated to 4th OF status until either Schwarber gets traded or Zobrist's contract runs out.

I'm not privy to the Sox daily activities, outside of losing.

Does he have a batting average above .220 or a WAR above that of Yolmer Sanchez or Ben Zobrist yet?

Here is a hint. The answer to all of those is the same.

Here is another hint. The answer to all of those is no.

You fucking imbecile.

Yet somehow Happ has nearly an identical OBP, Slug, and OPS as wonderboy Matt Davidson. I'm under the impression that Sox fans are pleased with Matts progression.

We are, and we should be.

The key word there is "progress." Imbecile Bob called Happ a success when he had something like 60 big league at bats. He continually says that Happ is better than Fulmer, when neither are even close to a finished product. Fulmer may end up being a stud #2 guy, or washout of baseball. This could be the best Happ ever plays in his career. Time will tell, and to call either guy a success or a bust at this point is idiotic.

When you want to compare apples to apples, let me know.

I feel pretty comfortable declaring his rookie season a success. He is a switch hitting utility person that has logged games at second and all 3 outfield positions. He has 9 home runs in 110 at bats while OPSing 850+. This after being promoted and crushing AAA with an OPS of .975.

Agreed anything can happen from here, but he is drawing walks and crushing contact. of his 24 hits, 17 are for extra base hits. His BABIB is still around .250 so if that regresses to the mean of near .300 you have a hell of a player.

Right now,Happ is on pace to the rookie season of Arismendy Alcántara in 2014.

Happ has shown more power but AA had 9 HR's with a .205 BA in 2014 and could play multiple positions, too.

The whole point of that comparison, if you had bothered to read the previous page, was that Matt Davidson is considered a placeholder by many Sox fans while cubbie fans are claiming greatness for Happ while possessing inferior numbers acquired during a much more friendly hitting environment.

I guess I shouldn't expect you to be reading under the white sox forum. I'm not projecting greatness, but I'm very happy for a 22 year old rookie to hold his own on his first taste of MLB. .850 OPS is an .850 OPS.

Over less than 120 at bats. Lets see where his OPS is at 300 ABs.

That's perfectly reasonable. Although I expect a response at 300 ABs of give it more than a half season.

Once again, in his 120 AB's, I'm very happy with the progress of a 22 year old rookie in his first taste of MLB.

There is reason to be optimistic, very good reason.

However, take a look at what Kyle Schwarber did over his first ~200 at bats, and what he has done since.

Stop making valid arguments and say something stupid. No doubt, Schwarber has not been good this season. But based on his 2015 and 2016 post season, he has earned a lot of leash in my head before I'd consider writing him off.

Absolutely.

A lot of leash is always a good thing.

Happ has showed enough to be in the rotation. I do think they're showcasing him a little bit, plus he got extra playing time with Heyward and then Zobrist hurt.

I would like to see him shipped back to Iowa for a few weeks once Zobrist is ready to come back. He certainly has things to work on, such as a better approach with two strikes:

Happ after a count of 1-2: 2 for 32
Contreras after a count of 1-2: 17 for 67 with 3 HR.

Once Zobrist is back, I want Happ playing every day at Iowa, not languishing on the bench in Chicago.

he's got a good eye and that swing is still good. I think he gets better sooner than later.

Javy Baez however....
