The 24-year-old outfielder was in the middle of his first full Triple-A season and has yet to play in the big leagues.

Zagunis hit .249 (53-for-213) with 13 doubles and a team-leading 11 home runs in 65 games with Iowa this season.

He got off to a slow start to the season after missing time in spring training due to the effects of a broken toe that cost him the end of his 2016 season.

Zagunis has power and patience at the plate and, as of Thursday morning, led the Pacific Coast League in walks with 48.

The patience at the plate led to Iowa manager Marty Pevey moving Zagunis into the team’s leadoff spot. The move has worked, and during his last game on Tuesday, Zagunis went 2-4 with a homer.

Pevey, who praised Zagunis' bat, also raved about his glove. With all the success, a big-league promotion seemed imminent for Zagunis.

Zagunis has been for the last couple of years the low key prospect in the Cubs organization that could end up having a decent 10 year career. Think Colby Rasmus or Josh Reddick. Probably doesn't fit long term with the Cubs, but who knows? Maybe he can provide some decent outfield help for the Cubs for the next several days.

Zagunis can play. Also check the numbers switch hitting Caratini is putting up at AAA. He will replace Montero next year and the Cubs won't miss a beat. I love having an organization that knows how to develop talent.

CB, I am of the opinion that you are a sophisticated troll with unconventional methods. For the record, I enjoy your posts in all their odd wonder and outrage.

I'm just an ordinary dude that loves the Cubs. I do follow the minors and majors religiously. Not sure how that is trolling.

There is plenty of room in the Church of Cubbie for both of us Flapjacks.

A brief example from this thread:

You could have said what you wanted to say about your beloved sport without the underlined part. But you threw that little zinger in to get the Sox fans pissed off. You do it in many of your posts.

Does that Church offer marital services? If yes, someone better get a strong rope.

Actually, I was juxtaposing this era of the Cubs to the Jim Hendry era and previous other regimes. When we had bottom feeding farm systems and propped up marginal teams via overpriced veterans.

Bob touts talent development on the day Theo's most prized piece was sent to the minors. Sad.

This is part of development?

Didn't just today you tout Matt Davidson, a prospect that needed YEARS in the minors after he was supposed to be ready for MLB?

Not all Cubbie prospects are going to come up at the age of 22 and rake with no hiccups along the way. Only most of them.

Baseball Executive IMU cannot recognize a trolling Davidson thread. Very sad.
