If you went to the MLB stats department and asked them how many playoff series the Cubs had won in the past decade, they would tell you 5. But we're just supposed to ignore that fact because you don't like it?

I've already stated that in this context, saying that winning a series is misleading, but TECHNICALLY, it was a series, whether you like it or not.

It's hilarious that you are complaining about us ignoring facts while you willfully ignore the actual definitions of words

Jesus, it's been explained 100 times at this point. What don't you get? MLB considers game 163 part of the regular season, and it considers the Wild Card series to be part of the playoffs and counts it as a series. What don't you understand about this?

MLB is wrong. It's idiotic to continue arguing that one game constitutes a series. You guys might want to take the L and drop this one.

se·ries
ˈsirēz/Submit
noun
1.
a number of things, events, or people of a similar kind or related nature coming one after another.
"the explosion was the latest in a series of accidents"
synonyms: succession, sequence, string, chain, run, round; More
2.
a set of related television or radio programs, especially of a specified kind.
"a new drama series"
synonyms: serial, program, show, drama; More

What I posted is objectively and factually true. That is how MLB classifies it. It's not my opinion, and it's not debatable. Whether you agree with them doing so is a different argument.

This is hilarious. You are correct that this is not a debatable topic, but that isn't stopping you guys. It's great.

What?

Is it true or false that MLB classifies it as a series and classifies game 163 as part of the regular season?

This is literally the only point I'm making. Do you believe it to be debatable?

I have no idea what MLB classifies it as. I know a series technically CANNOT be one game. It simply can't. It goes against the very definition of the word series.

If MLB told you Iowa was a planet would you believe them?

I guess we should also consider MLB as the source and decide that the winner of the MLB playoffs has beaten every team in the world! MLB says so!

Hell no. I don't even believe MLB when it tries to tell me a "quality" start is six innings.

You have a very poor interpretation of what getting "shelled" or "knocked out" is lately.

Answer this simple question, please: who should get to determine what constitutes a "series" in the MLB playoffs?

MLB can determine that, but it would be the same as them "determining" that Iowa is a city or Chicago is it's own country. It's fair to ridicule calling one game a series, regardless of who "determined" that to be true. It's simply not true. I don't know how more clear I can make that. But like Rick was laughing about, I guess you think MLB is infallible or something.

That is a horrible analogy. Is MLB the governing authority over planets?

It's amazing that you can't comprehend that MLB makes the rules and defines them for the very game it governs. You can't even admit that that's how MLB classifies it.

This is one of the few threads where it's pretty clear the Subdivision dominated you guys. You picked a very bad hill to die on, considering the two teams respective performances over the past 10 years.

First, your Iowa/Chicago example makes zero sense.

Second, my only contention ever in this argument was that that is how MLB defines it. I never once said you couldn't ridicule it, but you are all so defensive and ready to jump all over anything a Cub fan says that you can't just stop and read what I wrote.

Going back 20 years doesn't really help the Sox much either.

Look man. I believe that words have definitions, and I go by their definitions. It's really not that complicated. I'm sorry that you have to trick your mind into believing a series is an isolated event in order to defend your fellow Cub fans. Sounds like that would be miserable.

It does make sense. The analogy was used to show how ridiculous you sound when you make up your own definitions to things. I'm sorry you can't comprehend that.
