I remember at the time all the reports said Detroit wanted Almora. It was hard to watch Verlander dominate that entire postseason on his way to a WS.

I think letting Maddon have an influence with Jim Hickey and Chili Davis and shitcanning Bosio is definitely an issue.

Its possible they could have traded for another closer, not as good as Chapman and still won it all, but not likely. If you recall the Pirates had no interest in dealing Melamcolin inside the division.

His biggest blunders (and there are quite a few) would have to be things after 2016, IMO. Anything done prior to that led to a WS, and the ends justify the means in that situation... even the acquisition of Heyward, which I hated from day 1.
