Murph just shit on Q on today's show.

Said he heard from his sources that Theo soured on Eloy because of his work ethic. Thought he was going to turn out more to be a Jorge Soler rather than a Manny Ramirez.

Murph also said the Cubs could have got Sale in the offseason for Eloy and Cease or even less.

And THIS is why people shouldn't listen to Murph.

I heard that the Cubs had soured on Jimenez from my inside baseball guy too. He didn't say why though.

Trade interest in Justin Verlander has increased this week; a team other than #Astros has emerged as possible suitor, source says. @MLB

That would be a shocker. Even if Detroit pays some of the salary they would have a shit ton of money tied up in two aging players in Verlander and Mauer. I'm thinking Colorado may be a player. Verlander would look a lot better starting that play in game at Arizona instead of Jon Gray.

Since 2014, Quintana has been the better pitcher. He is also younger and on a much more team friendly contract.

Cubs got the better asset.

Since 2014, Verlander is 5 games over .500 and Quintana is 5 games under .500. The baseball expert thinks the loser is a better asset.

this trade will be worse than when we gave up to the Sox the potential 12 time cy young winner / 10 time world series champion John Garland.

I would rather have Verlander for two years and kept Jimenez.

One guy played for one of the best AL teams over that stretch and the other guy played for one of the worst AL teams over that stretch.

Simple stuff.

The Tigers have had 90, 74, and 86 wins during the timeframe you listed. This year they are just a few games better than the White Sox. Far from one of the best AL teams during that stretch.

Simple for some, not for you.

DET had a .517 winning percentage over that stretch. CHW had a .467.

If you like, I could add 2013? I left it out, but no reason I had to. Quintana was 9-7 that year and still had great stats, and DET won 93 games.

Detroit had the 4th best record in the AL with a .531.

CHW had the 2nd worst record in the AL with a .448

Justin Verlander: 49-41, 3.61 ERA, 3.50 FIP, 1.207 WHIP

Jose Quintana: 40-40, 3.35 ERA, 3.34 FIP, 1.224 WHIP

Yeah, partly because Detroit had Verlander and the Sox had Jose Quintana.
