He needs to start willing his offense to score more runs. Any pitcher who gives up three earned runs shouldn't be expected to win.

I would say that a starting pitcher who gives up 3 runs in the first inning has a very, very low chance of getting the win. The chances of the team winning the game might be little better, but its still likely a very poor win%.

Besides, JLN showed us all sorts of charts and graphs that shows how often Quintana wins and how great a pitcher he is when he gets 3 or more runs of support. That is what he got last nite. Whoops!

There was some speculation as to whether the offended neighbor who typed the letter was a Sox fan. The White Sox are not a very good baseball team at the moment.

As of Tuesday afternoon, they were in last place, 21 games under .500, and jockeying with the Philadelphia Phillies and San Francisco Giants to claim the worst record in Major League Baseball and a shot at next year's No. 1 draft pick. The Sox also have recently traded away several players who were popular among fans.

The Cubs, meanwhile, have been playing good ball since the All-Star break. The reigning world champions have moved into first place and recently took three out of four games from the White Sox in the annual Crosstown Classic.

Was the complaint letter an expression of utter frustration by a White Sox fan?

If the pitcher he is facing is not as good as he is, his offense should be able to put up more than two runs they scored while he was in the game. Problem solved.

Quintana gives up 3 runs in the first inning, and Cubs fans are bitching about the two runs of support he received. Makes no sense.

I'd say a pitcher that is supposed to be as good as Quintana shouldn't have any problems shutting down an offense as putrid as the Giants either .
