Gets a lot of shit for his sideways hat...

Has been one of the best middle relievers in baseball for the last five years.

bullpen's been pretty good except for wilson. carl even seems to have gotten it together the last few appearances.

What happened to Rondon? He's like MIA.

I have never understood the issues people have with him. He has been one of the best bullpen guys the Cubs have had.

It's the hat thing. And we all know why a certain group of people don't like that.

He has been solid. As has Lackey.

I love his hat. I hate when he walks people and gets his tits lit. He has been great this year. I trust him almost more than anyone in the pen this year. Davis even scares me even though he has been awesome.

Yeah, Davis isn't pounding the zone like he was early.

I don't like Strop, and I've stated this many times, because his motion and habits lead to inaccuracy. The quick pitch stuff, the different arm angles, different plant styles, it all means that when the pressure is highest, he's more likely to be inaccurate.

That said, he's a good regular season reliever, spotted correctly.

Rondon and Strop are both in the Top-20 in FIP among MLB relievers with at least 200 innings since 2014, interestingly enough. Rondon is 2.90 and Strop is 3.04. If you include Grimm, they have 3 of the top-50 in that same time frame.

I don't get all the board hate for Strop.

Is he a little to walkie? Sure. Is he a little to HR-ie? Sure.

That said, his ERAs as a Cub have been 2.83, 2.21, 2.91, 2.85, and this season he sits at 2.50 or so. He's been relatively healthy save for a blip last season.

Is he the guy you want closing out games? Nope. But that's not his job. He's your 3rd or 4th best bullpen arm. And if that's his role, he has been really productive.

He's also got a playoff ERA as a Cub of about 2.50 if you care about shit like that.

He's done all this right at, or below, league average salary.
