Anyone else a bit confused as to why he's so highly thought of? I see him constantly nibble and not finish batters.

Seems like a fine, clean-cut young man.

Leash apparently needs more country bumpkin qualities to feel secure with his pitchers.

I've got no issues with Montgomery whatsoever. The guy has been better than any of us ever expected.

Call me whatever you want, but you consistently have the worst thoughts and "takes" on sports that this board has ever seen. Think of all the dumb-ass thoughts that have been spewed across these pages over the years and then realize you're #1 on the list of stupidity.

He has good stuff but is way too inconsistent with location to really trust him late in games protecting leads.

I think he's going to be a better starter next year than a relief arm..I bet he takes over the 5th spot for hamell.

I thought "Monty" has been ok. He has a nice slow curve and get's his fastball around 94.

I also don't trust his control but he definitely has good stuff.

Future starter for sure.

Are people not aware that he is already a failed starter?

Last night Schulman told a story I hadn't heard, that in Game 7 Montgomery couldn't find the plate in the bullpen and didn't throw a single strike in his eight warmup pitches when he entered the game. He ended up getting the batter to swing at the second pitch and end the game with the grounder to Bryant, but it sounds like he was a little nervous.

1 game, Monte will be fine. But I do think he's best suited for the pen.

Well he threw 2 strikes once he got into the game .

He's got a good curve, but doesn't always have command. Definitely not a power arm. I found it disappointing that Maddon went to him, rather than either Rondon or Davis. Both struggled in spring, so that's a consideration of course. But if they are going to be the set-up man and closer, let them do those jobs and prove they are up to it, or not.

Rondon is done, he's pretty much sucked since he got hurt last year.

I can see why you might believe that. His results in the latter part of the season were awful and in spring he got knocked around a bit too. But the velocity is still there, so I'm not ready to give up on him. I will not be surprised if he gets back on track before long. Good to see Davis convert on his first save opportunity tonight though.

Let's close this chapter and just be happy he was facing a horrible batter to end the World Series. Bye bye, Mikey.
