Gordon would be at second. Big upgrade. The Marlins would be getting a lot of salary relief in that deal even if they have to pay Heyward.

My bad on Gordon.

I knew Stanton's deal was big but not $325 million big.

I need to do my job better.

How is maddon with stolen bases? I still don't trust dee Gordon to be s perennial .300+ hitter, but if he can wreak havoc on the basepaths that could do some interesting stuff for Bryant/rizzo/[Machado/Stanton/Harper/whoever] and it could be pretty fun. Hopefully the cubs don't have to dip too deep into the farm system to get finishing-touches-guys like Andrew Miller, cuz b4 the Quintana trade I woulda told you to go fuck yourself if you asked for Dylan Cease for a RELIEVER like Andrew Miller. Theo please!

So Manny Machado IN and I presume Stanton OUT cuz you wanna keep room for Bryce Harper to come, right?

Call me old fashioned but I'd rather have stanton than Harper, but hey what I'm reading here is kind of pie in the sky.... Cuz seriously what's stopping the cubs from adding Machado Stanton AND Harper?

Pitching wise I think adding Kershaw, scherzer, and maybe one of the mets guys (Syndergaard or Degrom) makes a lot of sense. Then you'll definitely wanna tack on Andrew Miller, maybe that closer from Tampa, and then upgrade your reclamation project (Eddie Butler) with someone like Glasnow, then since Arrieta is going you can replace him with someone with a proven October track record, say, Bumgarner?

So yeah a cubs rotation of Kershaw, Scherzer, Hendricks, Bumgarner, [Syndergaard/deGrom] with Glasnow there as #6 to go along with that outfield of Harper, Almora, Stanton and then an IF of Bryant, Machado, [Baez/Russell/Cano], then Rizzo... And yeah I think you got something going there, assuming that you're able to add 1-2 bullpen arms after Andrew Miller and the Tampa closer. #GoCubsGo!!!!

Stanton misses alot of games for that salary, Id take Manny over Harper and Stanton. I fully expect the Cubs, Dodgers, Redsox and Yanks to all have 300 plus million payroll by 2019.

Maybe someone like Nolan.Arenado is finally ready to play meaningful.baseball and he'd be willing.to come over here? We know Bryant can play LF/CF and surely the rockies could use some of the cubs' surplus young starlets, so maybe you can do Machado + Arenado and thrn if someone like Harper wants to come visit free agency we'll see if there's room for him?

The cubs might have to establish a waiting list to get all Stars in here cuz it's a pity there's only 8 positions on the field / in the lineup cuz you know so many guys wanna come here and win it's a shame we can't accommodate most of them =\

Did you seriously hear this was being discussed?

That would be awful tempting, would have to give it some serious consideration.

That is giving up a lot of depth....I think I might wait and go after Harper.

Just dumping Heywards salary is a huge win, i dont think that comes around again.

I think you do it. It might hurt with flexibility but Gordon can lead off ( His OBP doesn’t thrill me but he has done the job) and getting Heyward gone is a plus. Would have to go get a left fielder though which shouldn’t be too hard.

Why would Miami want to get rid Stantons deal and take on Heyward?

Then you need a third baseman. Whatever, you're short a starter. Go find one. Left fielder easier to find.

Maybe they don't, but Stanton's deal is giant on the back end.

Did you seriously hear this was being talked about? Or you just trying to see what Cub fans would say about some of their guys?

Murph brought it up today with Jesse Rogers...not sure if it was his idea or if he heard it from someone.

As sickening is the $130m the Cubs owe Heyward, the Marlins owe Stanton over $300m.

I would do that deal in a heartbeat. Gordon when he's on can cause havoc on the basepaths. And he's a better leadoff guy than anyone right now on the roster.

Sounds like Maddon is bringing in his buddy Hickey to replace CB.

If Girardi is back on the Yankees does Chapman demand a trade? Seems like there is some bad blood between them. Schwarber would be a good fit at Yankee Stadium. He can even be catcher as that would be a defensive upgrade from Sanchez.

That is a terrible trade. Why would you trade half your team and all of your defense for those 2?

The hell with Stanton. If you are going to go for something big go for Trout.

It's a good trade. You're getting a power hitter in Right and a legit leadoff man.

You're losing : heyward - no offense. Schwarber - bad defense, HR or nothing. Russell/Baez - I'll take Gordon for either, especially baez. Almora/Happ - both guys easily replaceable.

A lot of dumb here.

You readily admit you don't know half the players in the league. Who are you to decide who is easily replaceable?
