Any interest in R.A. Dickey? He'd be cheap.

He'd also be terrible.

I'd rather have Lance Lynn but we've got 2 maybe 3 slots to fill..could do worse than R.A. as your 5th man.

Whether it's Lance Lynn, R.A. Dickey, or Cobb, there's no ace in the rotation. Losing Arrieta and a year older Lester....that would be my main concern with the Cubs. Can they win in October against other elite pitchers?

Hendricks is the ace of the staff.

Lester the 2.

Q is the 3.

Perhaps, but are any of these guys aces? Lester was that guy, but I think age/innings has begun to take it's toll. All are good pitchers, probably very good, #2 types mainly.

Agree. Hendricks may be the #1, but would not consider him ace material, especially after seeing those last 2 playoff starts of his.

I dont have any problem saying Hendricks is the ace. He has beat Kershaw, Kluber, and Strasberg in the playoffs. Even the best aces are going to have off nights.

Of all the issues that Cubs have to worry about this offseason, Hendricks is not one of them. Pencil him in at the top of the order and go about finding guys to fill out the bottom of the rotation and get some better arms in the pen.

Maybe Hendricks will be but I'm not sold on that yet.

Hendricks is a 2. Quintana and Lester are 2/3

So they'd be all set if they had a dominant 1.

They should trade Heyward and Justin Wilson for Harper and Strasburg.

You seem awful quick to give up on Justin Wilson.

looks like Bryant and Harper both settled. Both are beards.

Why is a young, rich guy who is gone for 8 months out of the year getting married in his 20s?

You are not going to make it back to the NLCS with those three at the top of the rotation. Only way that works is if you invest in the bullpen and copy the L.A. model for the playoffs.

All these new young athletes are kids who grew up playing travel ball 10 months out of the year with no social life.

Neither of them drink, either. NERDS!

that deal makes sense more for the Cubs but Melancon is old, big contract and everyone knows Shark and his consistency issues...not saying I wouldn't be a fan of the move but I still can't shake the feeling that someone can fix Heyward offensively.

I've seen her in person and she always has her Twitter screen name floating in front of her. Not photoshopped.

He is the same age as Davis. Maybe part of a revamped pen. Collecting closers?

Shark could be fine at the bottom of rotation

Shark would be better in the bullpen as he was in his first few years.

But you are taking on 38 million in salary to get rid of Heyward's 20?

With Melancon coming off elbow surgery?

No thanks.

Ok yeah forget that. For some reason I was thinking the salary would be closer.

Wade Davis seems like a must keep. We don't have that guy in the system. What's he gonna get?
