Theo returns to Boston and the tampering compensation is that the Red Sox have to take Schwarber too.

I continue to disagree with the Schwarber is an AL player thing.

LF defense barely matters. If he hits, he's fine in the NL.

It's hard to find a left handed power bat like that.

We're gonna have to package Baez or Happ with Schwarber to get something nice coming back.

You can win a World Series with a guy like that in LF.

Yes, if he's hitting .260 with an obp around .340 and cracking 30 plus.

Almora could be moved as well. Maybe that's why they protected him so much against RHP.

But can you get there with a guy like him in LF?

As you said, its no surprise that they won 100+ games, the DS, and LCS without him last season.

If he's hitting and getting on base like he did in 2015 and in the second half this year, then yes, I think you can.

It all depends on the make up of the team. Obviously a great CF would help and if the rest of the team defense is good, which it looks like it will be.

They should sign Moustakis and move Bryant to the OF then trade Schwarber and Happ for pitching.

That's a good idea.

You get the Left handed power and the defense that way.

Gammons was talking about Schwarber to the Yankees for someone like Kahnle or Betances.

15 other left handed batters hit 30 or more HR this season. All of them had more RBI and as many or more runs scored than Schwarber. 14 of the 15 other left handed batters had higher OPS than Schwarber.

I included no switch hitters in this data.

Also, I would argue that only looking at HR to determine power is very archaic. So if we want to look at SLG or ISO instead, you'll find Schwarber much further behind the pack of true left handed power bats.

Logan Morrison, Eric Thames, Lucas Duda, and Jay Bruce are examples of 'just guys' that moved teams in the last year or so and each one of them surprassed Schwarber this year. Schwarber is not only replaceable but you can improve upon him.

 Every WS winning team has a below average glove somewhere. If Schwarber can hit 30 HRs and get his friggin average into the 240s they can totally live with his glove . I’d give him one more full season .

SLG in 2nd half was .559

If he's the .840-894 OPS guy he was in 2015 or 2nd half of 2017 than he's an great left handed bat.

What was his SLG in the postseason?

Also, he was a platoon player in the 2nd half of 2017. Can I take random players from random teams and set their splits just right so that I can report them to you as 1.100 OPS players?

Starlin Castro, on Sundays this year, when hitting at least two singles in the same game, had an OPS of 1.326.

That's why I said "package". Lots of bad contracts out there.

What they should do, is talk to Heyward's agent and tell him that Heyward will probably not start for the Cubs in 2018 and they would like for him to use the clause in his contract to opt out of the remaining years. If he will do so, the Cubs will give him 30-40 million dollars just for opting out. They would have to eat more than that if they traded him away, so why not?

His slugging percentage is .623 in postseason.

Didnt think that one through.

And Im not some Schwarber lover either. I just think people make way too much of a big deal about LF defense.

Hitting coach John Molle must be fired. I think the Cubs led the league in being "shut out" this year. Too "hit and miss" approach at the plate. They need to make more contact and show they can manufacture runs.

That and the bullpen overhaul.. Overall great season, I expect to be in the WS next year.

Christian Yelich, OF - Mia (Replaces Almora or Heyward)
Mike Moustakas, 3b - KC (As mentioned earlier, moves Bryant to LF)
Lorenzo Cain, Of - KC (Fowler type)
Danny Duffy, SP - KC
Chris Archer, SP - TB
Marco Estrada, SP - Tor (Lackey replacement)
Billy Hamilton, Of -Cin (strictly for the defense and speed on-base is average at best)
J.D. Martinez, Of - Ariz (3-4 year contract)
Cory Spangenberg, UT - SD (younger replacement for Zobrist and provides flexibility in case of a Happ trade)
Brad Hand, RP - SD

Just off the top of my head, these are possibilities via FA or trade.

Thames is a juicer. Kyle's still pretty young compared to Bruce. I think he will get better and again, he plays LF.

Every single one of those four names I've mentioned has played the corner outfield positions, and all but Duda can probably play them better than Schwarber.

Hell no. Dunn was a .900 OPS guy for Cincinnati for 8 years.

Not yet.

Dunn had 40 homers for 5 years in a row.
