After he hit that lucky bloop single against the Nats, he screamed "respect me" at the Nats bench because they didn't intentionally walk him with first base open. It was stupid as hell.

Fucking Christ, Maddon's dumbass shit infiltrating the players. This team is fucked.

In the last two years the Cubs have played 25 playoff games. In all but 4 (four!!) of the games the starting pitcher has not recorded an out beyond the sixth inning.

At that point it just becomes reliever roulette where you hope you don't bring in a guy who is a dud or is worn out.

Quintana and Lester both should have had more leash the past two games.

From your keyboard to Maddon's dumb, fucking ears.

Kyle Hendricks couldn't be reached for comment.

Any reason given why Duensing could pitch to Farmer a right handed batter, but could not pitch to Taylor or Turner, also both right handed batters?

You need to stay out of Cub business.

Stick to what you know, which is nothing.

No, I mean any real reason. I was on the radio broadcast and don't think Pat and Ron gave any explanation other than "Joe's going to the bullpen here."

Did the national guys or post game guys give any defensible reason other than just making a move to make a move?

I fell asleep with the cubs up 1-0 and lester giving up a leadoff double in the bottom of the inning.... I had a dream where the cubs won, and I woke up to see yet another bullpen loss.

Who's starting game 3? Arrieta? Hendricks?

Let's hope the offense re-emerges at Wrigley, especially Bryant/Rizzo & Contreras.

Contreras has been bad since the injury. Don't think he has homered since coming back

He homered against the Nats.

Yea, very odd timing for that yell. It would be kinda lame no matter what but a lot less so after hitting the ball well.

Cubs playoff games really have replaced Bear game threads in terms of being the Christmas of dumb comments.

Maddon didnt even know anyone would question him. He acted like "yea, no was saving Davis for the save"

Seems an odd take for a guy who brought in Lester in Game 4, Davis for 3 innings and Chapman last year. He doesnt usually do the saving thing.

Davis is probably hurt. He was warming up and then sat down.

Some guys here are gamblers and you have to read their posts understanding that. Usually, those guys are MORE knowledgeable. I guess schmitty didnt put any money on Game 2 against WAS.

It's possible that walk-off homer was the last pitch of Lackey's career.

That would be a shame if he didnt have so much money and 3 World Series wins.

Quite a career. Never really played for a bad team.

If you have the Dodgers bullpen, you can pull starters early.

The Cubs do not possess the Dodgers bullpen.

Any bullpen that has Lackey throwing two games in a row, is by definition bad.

Yeah, this is illustrated by Maeda vs. Lackey. Maeda is a stud in the pen, as you would expect from one of your regular season starters (who should be better than all of your relievers except the closer). In fact, Maeda is even better in relief, as he doesn't need to conserve energy for 100 pitches.

The Dodgers and Astros made good moves that are paying off. The Cubs got Justin Wilson and Alex Avila, who may not play at all in the postseason.

the fact that Avila has not played at all really bugs me.

Agree with everything but what's in parentheses.

At this point, smart teams are looking at the bullpen like we used to the rotation. You need 4 good relievers at least. You have to fill each spot.

Relief Ace
High leverage
High leverage
LOOGY

And the talent is not all in the rotation anymore.

You know the offense is going poorly when highest batting averages for the Cubs in the NLCS are Jose Quintana and Jon Lester.
