I don't get it. Reports were that LA was his preferred choice.

State income tax in Cali is 13.3% over a million. Perhaps that weighed into it if contracts were close, take home would be moderately different.

@BNightengale
Yu Darvish had several 6-year offers, and also a creative 8-year proposal, before accepting his 6-year contract with the #Cubs

This does not necessarily mean he took less money to be a Cub. He also received a no trade clause from the Cubs which may have been a sticking point as well.

Remember, the Cardinals offered Heyward more $ per year, but the Cubs offered more overall $ and we saw how that was spun.

This is the less money thread not the less years thread.

What is a creative offer...buy up Hideki Matsui's porn collection and install a big screen booth in his locker?

And 8 year contract would be worth more total $$$ than a 6 year contract. FYI. Just admit your "lampoon" thread idea has backfired on you, ok.

Show your work.

It was a creative proposal. If you have the hard numbers on the proposal, share it with everyone.

If the contract was FULLY guaranteed, like baseball contracts are, then yes, that is 1 billion dollars. Lot of money. Thank you for proving my point and have an excellent rest of your day!
