Theo discussed how thorough they are in investigating the players they bring in to the organization. They talk to players wives, girlfriends, ex girlfriends, enemies, etc. is how I believe he put it. The media lapped it up.

So if this is true and the Cubs have hired so many turds over the past few years, you have to believe that the Cubs implicitly accept the types of felonious behavior we have seen of their players.

This is undoubtedly true of the Murphy issues. They trot Laura out there for coverage like a racists one black friend but you know in Omaha not only do they not care, they agree.

He was busted twice for steroids.

I don't really care that him or Bonds or McGwire are coaching. Teams should be looking to bring in anybody as a coach or consultant that can help them win. But when you say things like gd pointed out and then bring in guys like Murphy or Manny, that speech becomes disingenuous and nothing more than grandstanding.

If there was nothing wrong with it, why did Laura Ricketts feel the need to apologize and perform due diligence before the trade? Why did MLB feel the need to reprogram his thinking?
