Short 2 game series. Both day games.

Tuesday: Jhoulys Chacin vs Jose Quintana
Wednesday: Junior Guerra vs Kyle Hendricks

Today’s Lineup

LaStella’s hitting .500 off Chacin. Fuck Happ though.

Cain has pretty good baseball instincts for a guy who didn’t even start playing until his Junior year in HS. He went out for the team and he didn’t even own a glove. I love that story.

Damn that is something. Baseball is typically a funnel with less participation each year after T Ball. The majors are just blessed with an amazing amount of young talent.

He got cut from the basketball team and his mom wouldn't let him play football so he went out for baseball. They told him he needed to get a glove and he didn't even know what hand he threw with. They gave him a ball and he threw it right handed so they told him he needed to get a right handed glove so of course he got a left handed glove because he thought that's the hand it goes on. He finally got the correct glove and the rest is history.

No way Bote would start after a big game with crazy Joe's lineups. Also almora sitting while he's coming out of a slump.almora keeps bouncing back no matter what Joe puts him through. He's made of tough stuff. Interesting Joe's protege (teammates wife) Davey is struggling.

Another pathetic effort today. These guys haven't been scoring shit for a few weeks now. Even against garbage pitchers they are getting shut down. Got lucky Bote bailed them out Sunday, that should have been another shutout. La Stella batting 5th today is pretty ridiculous, no matter what his numbers are against this guy.

Umpires behind the plate have been awful. Really unacceptable to miss calls. It's your job, get it right.

Needed a split going into the series. Have to get a W tomorrow. No excuse for todays effort, really piss poor. After a big win like Sunday's, you need to show up today. Looks like there was to much fucking around at the golf outing yesterday.

This is now into "if you don't give a shit, I don't give a shit" territory. That is 3 or 4 of this piss poor performances since the break. I have no tolerance for a team going down a few runs and juts mailing it in after that.

Maybe a few of them but once they went down 5-0 they just went through the motions and finished the game as quickly as possible. They pissed away a lead off double in the 3rd or 4th and after not scoring there they did absolutely nothing. The following inning they went down 1-2-3 using 6 total pitches and about 90 seconds.

Im not sure that this team could earn a wild card if it was in the AL.

You really think golf made them tired or bad or whatever?

They're not doing too well; just leave it at that.

The Cubs have played the Brewers 13 times this season, and 8 of the games have been shutouts.

Guerra is a Cub slayer so don't be surprised if the offense gets shut down again. Hope I'm wrong. Maybe he's due for a stinker vs us like Q vs the Crew.

First time up, Bote keeps the inning alive and gets a hit against the shift! Then Rizzo with a 2 run HR in the basket.

Bote has to be a full time starter. Russell is the odd man out for now...maybe Schwarber / Happ once Bryant comes back.

Yeah ... Bote has long since demonstrated he's not a fluke, at least for this season.

Ever since Bernstein and McDoink said Bote was just a guy, he's been raking.
