Game 1: Monday, August 5 | 7:05 PM CST
Probables: Hue Jackson (8-8, 3.07 ERA) vs. Chris Bassitt (7-5, 3.84 ERA)

Game 2: Tuesday, August 6 | 7:05 PM CST
Probables: Jon Lester (9-7, 3.86 ERA) vs. Brett Anderson (9-7, 4.04 ERA)

Game 3: Wednesday, August 7 | 1:20 PM CST
Probables: Jose Quintana (9-7, 4.40 ERA) vs. Homer Bailey (9-7, 5.20 ERA)

Need to take 2 of 3

Nobody knows about the A's, but then you play them and realize that they are a damn good team who just happen to be relegated to the west coast and a terrible stadium where few outside of Oakland even notice them.

The As remind me a little of the Brewers. When you look at their starting pitching it is hard to imagine how they win games, but they find a way.

I still don't get how they get the elephant to balance itself on a baseball -- that is pretty impressive alone, but then in addition, they have it hold a bat!! The Cubs just have a pantsless bearcub that sometimes leans on a bat.

I'm interested in this series. Oakland is a solid high end AL team. It's a good test of where the cubs are.

I'll always be an A's fan first and a Cubs fan second.

This year's team is just like last year's team. Not good, but doing it with smoke and mirrors. I'm pulling for them, so hopefully the Cards get swept as do the Cub this series.

Try as I might, I don't know which team you're talking about here!

Wily out 4 weeks . Add in a week of rehab, then a week of being bad as he re-acclimates and middle of September before you can expect meaningful contributes .

Wait for Lucroy to clear waivers and then sign him for the prorated minimum.

They may steamroll the AAAA Sox but the Mighty Cubs are a different story.

I have watched the A's a little bit they are the AL Cardinals so to speak. Somehow they find a way to win or stay in games. Cubs sweep.

Sox traded Bassitt and Semien for Samardzija. Ouch.

That’s the best comp you could come up with?

- they have 6 more wins
- nearly 70 runs better in run differential
- play in a better division
- have a winning record on the road which neither the cards or cubs obviously can boast
- and of course they just swept the cards

Excellent scouting report bud

Happ!!!! Now figure out how to get 6 outs without giving up a run. I really wish Joe would do a double switch or something knowing that Wick was due up to bat. Now he is out after 6 pitches.

Now Joe is a genius as Wick barely broke a sweat and will be ready to go tomorrow.
