He seems to be seeking an overpay. I think there is value to keeping a guy like him around with the way he approaches at bats. Especially for the unpcoming rebuild.

Give him 3/60 or see ya.

That's what scares me about giving him a huge contract. His approach will only get worse when he gets paid and won't even have to pay lip service to the coaches.

Cubs career stats

Rizzo 274 374 491 864 131
J Hey 252 332 388 720 90

Heywards numbers are shocking compared side by side with an actual baseball player. Then, when stealing from the Cubs these last years he has the balls to comment about the ASG move.

I gave all averages. Not cumulative numbers. Heyward has a substantial sample size. Your point is not thought out.

It’s a shame Taylor Mcgregor tries to twist her voice into that odd generic reporter tone. There’s no way she sounds like that in normal conversations.

It’s like she’s holding her nose and holding her breath while talking.

She sounds like a valley girl. I cringe every time she gets air time. Only thing worse is Dempster's stupid thoughts and jokes.

Grace at least was entertaining and had interesting stories to talk about. Dempster is like the clown at a bull riding event.

I am back!

Sadly, Baez overtook Kerry Wood as my favorite Cubs player to watch. But he has become his own worst enemy at the plate with terrible discipline. He needs to go the other way on outside pitches.

I would not give any of these guys high salary long term extensions. Bryant will want too much, and he needs to prove he can hit 30 plus homers and stay healthy before I go more than four years. Rizzo needs his price to come down because of his age. Baez needs to bat .270 or more with decent power and less K’s. Contreras is a player but catchers are not worth giving long term paper.

The new CBA will change the rules of the game quite a bit, I suspect. The Cubs have been smart not to tie up money when the owners may finally have the guts to call the players’ bluff.

One of most debilitating of the many afflictions that come with being a Cubs fan is the cringeworthy habit of way overvaluing Cub players. Remember back to my hapless youth when I would make idiotic trades just to get the Cub team card so that I had the entire set of Cubs baseball cards. Sadly, that continues with a majority of the fandom, it seems to create a country club type atmosphere around the team where the players feel no pressure to perform and can basically make a career out of a good season or two.

And that previous record in 1968 was for the final 10 games of the year as they were out of contention and playing out the string.

Just bloody awful. This isn't a early thing, this is what this team is.

To insult to injury, Pat Hughes is making mistakes seemingly every inning in combination with a flood of ad reads during the broadcast.

It has become an increasingly tough listen.

Hey Ronnie, this golden Sombrero is brought to you by golden corral! You can strike out four times in a game but you won't strike out at Golden corrals $6 all you can eat buffet!

hey dickis- welcome to 2010 - Hughes has sucked for at least a generation - he makes mistakes like this all the time. He just has the job for life because he kissed Santo's ass for a very long time.

So far this year, both Nico Hoerner and this Marisnick (7 & 8 hitters) have a higher .OPS than Baez, Contreras, and Rizzo.
