Heyward is easy to rip on, but he really is a class guy.

He has hung in there thru thick and thin.

And why shouldn't he? He's paid hundreds of millions to be a crappy hitter? All he has to do to keep the heat off is not be a motormouth.

Seems like a good dude but I don’t know what he does for $184 million. Worst contract in Cubs history.

Only 3/12 years with a +800 ops (Cubs career 717). Got to hand it to his agent for swindling Theo. He's been propped up by the Cubs/Score propaganda machine as a valuable asset, contrary to reality. I'm sure the Cubs would eat half his contract to unload him, but no takers. Now he's playing the sjw hero card to deflect his silly bad money contract.

Theo swindled Cubbie Nation and propped Heyward up as the starting CF when he signed such a big contract.

Theo knew he made a huge mistake after the first year. He boasted of obscure sabermetrics data to prove Heyward had value to the gullible. After that didn't float the propaganda machine shifted to Heywards leadership, and what a great guy he was.

That's not an inaccurate statement. He really is a great defender. Nothing Theo said there is wrong.

Crying? Be more dramatic, will ya. I don't deny Sox fans post about the Cubs. You are exhibit A of Cubs fans caring about the Sox as you have started more threads in the Sox section than any other section of the board.

127 starts as a Cub in CF, none since 2019. Swindled.

What are you talking about man? He says he's a great right fielder and that he can play solid center field too. Which he did. This is really a stretch. Let me put it another way... you're flat out wrong. If you want to bag on Theo for selling us a hitter fine by all means .

Heyward is a very good defender. I don't believe I have ever said otherwise.

At the time he was signed in 2015, Theo justified the large contract to Heyward, in part, by saying that JHey would be playing a lot of CF for the Cubs. Which my initial reply to bigvito indicated. Caller Bob being too dense to understand that didn't surprise me. You are usually better than that.

As the stats show, JHey has not played much CF at all with the Cubs. So I was right.

Honestly I think choosing this particular argument is probably the worst choice you could have made if you want to bag on what Theo sold us as far as Heyward is concerned.

I'm not buying in to Heyward being an impact outfielder. He's very good. Especially on the foul line running. Has problems on the warning track
He will make great catches. He's declining defensively the last few years as a young man. No gold gloves the last few years. He has a very good arm. Not a cannon like true impact outfielders. I'm very suspicious of anything Theo lawyer talk utters.

Outfielder career assists;
Roberto Clemente -266
Hank Aaron -201
Willie Mays -195
Carl Yastrzemski -195
Billy Hamilton -182
Dave Winfield -166
Andre Dawson -157
Jason Heyward -70

I'm not so sure comparing him to legendary HOF guys is fair but hey I mean whatever turns you on I guess.

Saying its a poor argument is one thing. Saying I was wrong, when I was just restating what Theo said at the JHey introductory press conference, is completely different and incorrect.

Well you are wrong. Theo deciding in 2015 whos gonna be playing cf in 2019 and beyond is aittle silly.
