It's truly sad we got rid o' him.

Only to get another guy for the same contract.

Schwarbino was a homegrown player and a face of the club.

Schwarbino is on a tear, just a hit a booming 3-run HR to tie it up in a 5 run rally.

9 HR in the last 10 games.

Started off slow but is havin' a banner year.

Yep, he's up to 139 HRs over 7 years in the Majors. It should only take him another 25 years or so before he catches the Babe. Looking forward to it!

How much longer were they supposed to hang on to him ? Though if fucknuts Heyward’s contract wasn’t so onerous , he’s the one that should’ve been whacked before Schwarber.

It was a no-win situation. He had to go, yet no one on the current Cubs (other than Wisdom) has a higher slugging pct.

Yep. The lineup already has too much swing and miss . Throw another 150 plus in if Schwarber gets 500 plate appearances. He has value , just not in the way the Cubs lineup is constructed .

This run has been at leadoff, too. I know Maddon tinkered with that a bit, but I can’t remember how he did. They probably told him to look at a lot of pitches…maybe he’s swinging more now.

I was fine letting him go if there was an actual plan to replace him with someone that fits their overall team philosophy. Instead they turned him into his closest comparable on baseball reference in Pederson and overpaid Pederson. Hopefully Hoyer doesn't make too many more of these mistakes.
