He can pitch just fine.

Nobody wants to be in an environment where ur constantly criticized and beat down by the media and fans.

He will also have Caratini as a personal catcher there if he wants.

Arietta can still pitch.

I doubt they expected him to rebound, were probably just hoping a veteran who has experience could at least keep them in a game. He is probably done though.
