Funny.

Not really. The amount of ads and signage there is at Wrigley makes it look like a giant NASCAR.

Yeah, no other stadium in the city has signage in it.

I certainly didn't say that. But almost no other stadium in sports is painted as some sort of historic Cathedral, and has under gone so many changes that it's charm is maybe not completely gone, but it's definitely been greatly reduced. The signage, the video boards, other facilities, and aspects... it's indistinguishable from other sports stadiums in some ways.

Ok.

I think you missed the concession that Wrigley is no different than any other baseball field.

Baby steps, but the cubbie faithful are getting there. Let’s support them on their journey.

Well normally I think the answer here is that the signs are supposed to bring in revenue (it did) so the cubs could pay top talent (they didn't) and remain a top payroll team (that pays players to play for other teams) and remain perpetually come (they won't).

I wouldn't go that far. Its still the same diamond that Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, Ernie Banks, and Stan Musial played on.

But its not nearly the same as it once was. Its not nearly as special. And I.think the same can be said of Fenway.

Well Cobb, Ruth et al weren't making 100s of millions of dollars in the era in which Wrigley was built. Stadiums used to be named after the owners of the team like Joe Robbie, Wrigley, Comiskey bla bla bla now they're all named after juice companies or predatory mortgage lenders.
Wrigley still mostly feels like old Wrigley. But it's an old ass out of date dump. If they could raze wrigley field and build RedTube park and Porno Emporium and they Cubs win another world series I'm fine with it.
