yes...and the 2017 Cubs were still very good.
Theo royally fucked this up...but that's done and over.

Tanking does suck, but at least they didn't spend 7-10 years duct taping the roster and hovering around 78-84 wins a season and boasting how close they were to being playoff team.

The roster was utter shit. Farm depleted. It was time to blow it up. There were too many bad contracts to live with to do anything else than blow it up. That's Theo's legacy.

They were right and they were wrong.

They won one. That was fun.

Let's focus on the important things like the lack of clutch closers in the White Sox bullpen.

Yeah, I think he left the game for something and did make a bunch of money and then came back to manage the Cubs for some reason. But those were exciting times.

He managed with a sort of "who cares, lets take a risk, I don't care if you fire me" attitude. It often paid off for the Cubs. But eventually the players tired of his attitude and he lost the ballclub. He quit in 1979 with a week left in the season, basically saying "I don't need this anymore."
