The Cubs today claimed LHP Wade Miley off waivers from the Reds.

Miley has been a pretty solid middle of the rotation guy and you get him for $10 million. That is a good deal. And they definitely need pitching

28 starts, a winning record, low thee era and a reasonable contract number

what gives? Why would the reds have released him?

Reds seem to be tired of competing and going into savings mode again

Hoyer "seeking more velocity from starting pitching. We've had a lot of very similar profiles over the last few years."

No shit...funny how everyone knew that except him and Theo.

Yeah, crazy that it took em this long to do what every team in the league has done for a decade. I hated Quintana, I believe we really missed a great opportunity to trade Hendricks this year..we have seen his best and it is all downhill from here.

Genius Theo's philosophies are all being reversed by the Cubs. But, he's still put on God status. Now he's moved to a MLB guru position to lord over future changes to better the game.

After five tumultuous years in New York, Clint Frazier is getting a fresh start in Chicago.

The Cubs agreed on a one-year deal with Frazier on Tuesday, a source told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand. Still just 27, Frazier was the fifth overall pick in the 2013 Draft and was one of the top prospects in baseball when he went from Cleveland to the Yankees in the Andrew Miller trade in 2016, but Frazier struggled with myriad health issues over parts of five seasons in New York and was released last week.

I had him pegged as a Kenny type pick-up.

The Cubs are working the free agent list starting at the bottom, working their way up.

As I said in the Sox thread, I would prefer to wait until the new labor contract is inked. The rules may change significantly. I cannot imagine doling out big dollars and long terms ahead of knowing the new rules.

Gomes worked with the new GM back in Cleveland. He fills the Victor Caratini role of being the better defensive catcher.

I do think they trade Contreras. Toronto would be a good fit for him, and they have enough prospects to figure out a decent return. I get the idea that Ross didn't get along with anybody who disagreed with Rizzo.

I was thinking Ricketts is still pissed at fans booing the Marquee Network at the Cubs convention a few years ago and is taking it out on us now.
