Rare appearance for the Red Sox at Wrigley Field.

Former Cub Rich Hill, still doin' it.

There's empty seats at the ballpark, so there's still time to fuckin go.

Very delayed strike 3 call.

That was a surprisingly enjoyable win. Not a laugher, but a well played game against a playoff level team. They took advantage of the Boston fielding errors and Leiter actually looked like a major league pitcher.

speigel playing up yesterday's bosox starter's comments - a guy with 5 career starts...."wrigley field isn't anything special.."

not sure what to make of the comments. i will say this about the yawkeys and henrys...how many hundreds of millions in revenues have you denied yourself through the decades with the green monster? the peskey pole must have been the clincher for winckowski.

The phrases he used was, "underwhelming," and "stock standard."

With all of the changes made to Wrigley, he's not that far off. All inclusive seats close to the plate, a restaurant in Center field, a jumbotron, bullpens off the field, more advertising signs, and what amounts to a basic suburb outside of the park. Stock standard might be a fairly accurate term to use. The field dimensions may be the same, but there is no way you can argue that the stadium Wisdom and Hoerner play their home games in is the same as guys like Sandberg, Santo, and Banks played in. There's no truth to that anymore.

got it, but that starter never played in the wrigley of the banks-williams-santo-sandberg eras to make the comparison you're making.

The point is that to somebody walking into Wrigley field for the first time, it doesn't appear all that dissimilar from almost every other MLB ballpark around. They all have some unique features both good and bad.

Of course if you grew up watching games on WGN, or going to Wrigley as a child, it's going to be special and nostalgic. For a pro player walking in for the first time? Stock standard probably fits the bill pretty well.

Amazing pitchers can paint the black but too often can't throw the ball accurately to a base.
