Very close to the right answer. Baseball fans find winning championships charming. Seems Cub fans don't much appreciate 2016. Rather they be longing for the good ole days of choking playoff games.

Completely not surprising and totally in character.

It's never as good once you win a title. The highs and lows just aren't there. So the Cubs suck, who cares? 2016 was awesome. The next generation of Cubs fans can care about winning a title.

Obviously false. For years 40,000 showed up everyday to watch a turd team that had zero shot at winning a shampionship.

Yep. Cub fans, not baseball fans. I s'pose within that 40,000, some cared for baseball.

cubs fans were sold a bill of goods. no more lovable losers its time to build like the yankees. someone who cared and has money buys the team, money is no object. hire epstein. etc etc.

and for the most part it felt like that. then it kind of blew up. and now the lovable loser identity was cast aside, I don't really feel like its possible to go back.

I'm out of the game so I don't know but is wrigleyville still a hangout for the post grads? It seems to me to be just a series of huge, sterile bars
