Seems a good time to mention the ‘05 Sox were wire-to-wire champions and had the best record in the history of the postseason.

Yep, neither 05 or 16 are examples of lightning in a bottle.

Only two AL teams in history to go wire to wire and sweep the WS- '27 Yankees, '05 White Sox.

Some teams dominate and go 11-1 in the playoffs. Others need to rely on errors and a rain shower to help get a win.

2005 White Sox Continue To Be Called Lucky

I stated all during the 2005 baseball season how lucky the Sox were, giving example after example, and have since pointed out that Sox players, Sox announcers, sports-talk announcers, local publications, national publications, etc. have all said the same thing after the fact and continue to say this. This goes well beyond the numerous bad umpiring calls giving them the Red Sox and Angels playoff series, or the bad managing giving them the World Series.

The Chicago Sun-Times had an article this week titled: Baseball By The Numbers: Some Teams Simply Luckier Than Others. It mentions the website, http://www.baseball-reference.com, which has a column labeled “Luck.” Of course, the 2005 Sox are listed.

Lotta White Sox fans posting in the Cubs thread.

Honestly, I forgot about 2005 White Sox, like the majority of the world. You fools keep bragging about how great it was, but no one outside the Southside gives a shit about 2005.

The Cubs barely won in 2016 and relied on a few missed calls to slip by the far superior Indians team. The WS dominated everyone on their way to a ring. It left no doubt they were the most dominant team in the postseason. The Cubs cried during the rainstorm because they knew they were being outclassed and then looked surprised as anyone once Cleveland stole defeat from the jaws of victory in extra innings.

I picked up this t-shirt:

a few years ago. Sometimes even locals need a reminder.
