Haven’t seen Sosa in a while. He went really white looking a few years ago. Now he looks a little bit darker.

I can see why Sammy didn’t see it coming from Lou. Lou has always been a fan boy, cheerleading jock sniffer. Sosa remembers him that way. So when he didn’t get the ass licking worship from Lou it shocked him.

When did Lou change?

Not at all. Sosa fucking saved the game of baseball. That 1998 season was one of greatest I ever witnessed as a fan. Sammy should have been allowed to "sprint" out to RF and tap his chest the day he retired. Fuck Ricketts and fuck anyone who wants to get off on shaming him.

I often hear people say McGuire and Sosa saved baseball in 1998.

I hate when people say that. Because it literally means if they didn't have that great HR chase that MLB would have folded. That it would not exist today. And that's obviously not true.

Sosa by all accounts was a complete asshole in the clubhouse. He was universally hated by his teammates. Almost everyone was cheating yet no one is as hated as Sosa. His teammates threw a massive clubhouse party on the day he left the team ( a few days early) IIRC. I spent some time working with one of their nobody September call ups from that season and he said the boombox destruction was quite the thing and well enjoyed by many in the clubhouse.
