Pitchers and catchers report to camp today!

This makes me very happy. It means winter might just end after all.

What I need is Public Works to do their job.
They never really ever cleared the last storm, with all it's McHenry county glory, and we got hit again, still no plow.

I'll believe it's Spring when I see a summer dress.

You won't think so on a 35 degree day in early May.

My first sign of spring is when Cubs fans start saying this is the year...This is really it!

As opposed to the unbridled optimism that is the hallmark of the Sout Side.

You are clearly not a Sox fan.

I fully expected them to blow it in 2005....

I know spring is here when I hear the annual

Kerry Wood injured his elbow/shoulder/hamstring etc. but it's nothing major

Kerry's got to pick up the slack since Prior is no longer a Cub. :)

No sir. Not a fan. Not a hater though, for the most part.

I don't hate the Cubs, but I would not go on record saying I'm a fan. Grew up a Sox fan and know this year will be rough.

I pegged them at 74 wins this year in my "before spring training" wager.
You probably hate that idea....

I don't think you are too far off actually. I'd say the way the Cubs are built they are probably in the 88 range. The Sox should get a few more from last year. I'll go 78.

I went with 92 for the Cub.

Pass me summadat.
I think they're due for a pratfall. ALOT of things went right last year to squeek into the division title.
I'd love to be wrong.
Ask me tomorrow, and I might think you're being conservative. 8)
The pitching on this team is an absolute crapshoot after the top two starters.

I can see the Cubs in the 94-96 range if they get a quality starter. Sox - hell, they'll be lucky to hit 72.

No sun has put a damper on your cautious optimism.

Shit GD. I just lost a bet with myself. I thought Frank would be here, droll as ever, before you. Now I have to pay myself five bucks.

Like I said, unbridled optimism.
I am a Cubs fan, and thats.......ok.
I think the Cub won 88 last year without a valid 4th or 5th starter. They've added some firepower, I think you're finally going to see the cohesion that was missing from the first half of last year as Pinella won't have to sift thru the players Hendry thought should be there but didn't belong (SS Cedeno, comes immedately to mind, but so does Pie who we can only hope is ready for Prime Time).
I'm really only predicting a couple games difference from last year. but in a division where 87 could have won you the title, does it matter? PLAYOFFS HERE WE COME!
