Has anyone seen that over the last 30 days, his average is in the .236 range and his OPS is under .800? His strikeouts are way up 26 in 89 at bats.

Is it pitchers learning to pitch to him or Lou overusing him?

I think he's injured. I'll wager that later you'll hear that he had something wrong with his left hand or wrist.

Both. He's had good numbers til recently, so pitchers are probably paying more attention to him. Seems like every time I put on a Cub game, he's catching. AJ catches at most 3 out of every 4. At least once a week you see Toby Hall in there, especially in 4 game series, or day games after nite games. Hank White isn't that bad is he?

Soto has been dealing with a wrist injury, but he had a big 3 run homer last night.

Blanco has been filling in for him about once a week or so.

He had a flyball that carried into the basket. Its 3 runs any way you slice it, but its not like he crushed the ball onto Waveland or anything. In fact, I think his HR was tainted.

From what I've seen and heard, both Soto and Marmol are being waaaayy overused. They're producing now, but in the dog days of August, those guys are gonna need lots of rest, or they wont be putting up the numbers they are now. Plain and simple.

don't debate the cubs, frank. :P

i am worried, as any cub fan should be, of the proverbial other shoe to drop, and the cubs can enjoy a good summer...but it means nothing if it doesn't pay off in the fall...

I enjoy the Cubs. I've been to 932.5 White Sox games, both at the old park and the Cell. And I've been to Coors Field twice. So I KNOW baseball!!!!1

Where's the beating a dead horse emoticon when I need it? Frank is trying to hammer Elmhurst Steve with all the subtleness of a hand grenade.

More like an Hbomb. But, considering who I'm poking fun at, the hand grenade might go unnoticed.

Well since the subject of explosives has been broached-If Frank's brains were Dynamite, he couldn't blow his nose. If you didn't even know that Soto has been dealing with a wrist injury, you must not be watching Cubs games. Brenley has mentioned it several times. Now go back to watching your Sox "shut down" everybody-like Contreras did last night, giving up 13 hits and 6 runs in 6 innings.

I don't. Not religiously anyway. I refuse to give my support to a team who's division title would clearly need to be marked with an asterisk.

So, here we have a dumb ass, who comments on a Cub's thread, about a subject he doesn't really know about. Nothing new from the posting party. Typical Sox fan-just wants to rain on the big blue train's parade. If class were a blanket, this idiot couldn't cover a bug. Notice he has no comments about how the Sox didn't exactly "shut down" everybody last night, with Contreras giving up 13 hits and 6 runs in 6 innings. Reminds me of the thread about Mark Cuban, where he claims Cuban didn't have the liquid Capital to purchase the Cubs. Then it was pointed out that Cuban is listed by forbes as #133 on the list of richest Americans. That he sold Broadcast.com for 5.7 BILLION and has increased his personal fortune since then through producing television and motion pictures and ownership of the Mavericks. He has FAR more than enough liquid capital. But because Cuban might well increase payroll :D and keep the Cubs as a perrenial contender-if not championship team :D , he makes a stupid statement, based on the fact that he very likely hates the idea of Cuban buying the team, because of what that would mean. :x Of course, once his stupidity is pointed out, he has no reply. Go away Sox fans, this is a Cub's section-you are not wanted or welcome. :P

RFDC- Not really. I have tickets to two Sox games right now-the first coming up July 5th against Oakland. I just can't stand this asshole. He makes comments about shit he doesn't even know about and comes to the Cubs section here, ( where he is not wanted or welcome) just to try to dampen Cubs fans' spirits. When I go to the Sox games, I will be rooting for them. As will I root for them when I watch them on TV. Except when they play the Cubs-of course. But when the Cubs beat the Sox, I will enjoy rubbing it in to this dillhole. But even better, will be rubbing it in, when: THE CUBS END THE WAIT IN 2008!!

Pot calling the kettle black. First off, RFDC was quoting me, and you just jumped in to take yet another shot at the Sox. It was an A-B conversation, so C you're way out of it. Before, you pulled your sour grapes out and called the 2005 Sox World Championship (who went 11-1 in October) tainted because Bartolo fucking Colon didn't pitch against them, but then say you like the Sox, and that its all find and dandy because you have tickets to 2 Sox games this summer. Button 48, asshat. I couldn't care less what you think about me, or the White Sox, or how many Sox or Cubs games you attend. None of that takes away from the fact that you are king meatball around here, a crown which I'm sure you love. I'm not alone in that setiment either. Enjoy your waiting for the Cub to win (something my team did 3 years ago. So if you ever want to know what winning a World Series is like, ask a White Sox fan). Run along now and plan out your daily call to MJH to piss and moan about Sox fans.

Frank is most definately welcome in this section.
That's a bullshit thing to say ES.
We Cub fans welcome all to our home and forum.

Thanks, Darko. Apparently Steve thinks we need security guards here.

Is this The Shrine of message board forums?

As I've been reading this little spat I have noticed a lot more Cubs hats up here in Grand Rapids, MI area. Some people coming up to me and giving me the "how about our Cubs" with Tigers hats on?

How do you react to these special people?

If Sox fans were unable to post in the Cubs section, and therefore the Cubs section avoided facing Sox fans, the whole section would be tainted.

Did I miss the vote?

"Welcome" is a strong word. "Tolerated" seems more appropriate. "Humored" maybe? "Ridiculed"? "Disenshrined"?

Most "fans" give me the whole Cubs are my National League team or I've always loved the Cubs. I'm not the driver for the bandwagon so I don't care that they are a Cubs fan when the Cubs are playing well, but I don't want them to talk with me on the bus. Go sit in the back or whatever. Some guy just asked me the other day, who is this Blanco guy and why isn't Soto catching? I almost punched him in the face.
