The Giants blow but the Cubs get Lincecum on Sunday. As long as Marquis continues his streak of pitching well and Harden pitches better then he had the last two times out, Cubs should take atleast two of three if not sweep.

I hope so. I know the Cubs didn't end this past series like we would have liked, but I think that today was "just one of those days". The Giants definitley don't have the type of power the Reds have, so the series should turn better in our favor.

I would be happy if Harden goes about 7 innings 5 hits 3er, 1BB, 7k.

Harden would be real happy if he goes 7 innings too.

Few pitchers wouldn't be.

At least we don't have to worry about Wuertz serving up more gopher balls this series. He's down to the minors and Hart is back up.

Marquis looks good so far. Maybe the threat of being dropped frm the rotation has motivated him the past couple of weeks.

As hard as I have been on Marquis, 7 innings of shutout baseball is all we could ever ask of him. He has looked really solid. Hopefully, we can get him some runs. What is it about Cain that always gives us trouble?

Way to call for the bunt with a man on second and nobody out  . I don't care if it is DeRosa batting, you've got to get the runner over.

If Wood gets the save, this will be one dandy of a game. Now how's about the Reds win a game tonight?

Big blast!

Any time you win a game when Marquis starts, i.e. the weak link in the rotation, is an important win. Hopefully the rain stays away tomorrow and Harden can notch his first win as a Cub.

But if it is wet tomorrow and there is a chance of a rain delay(s) do the Cubs start Marshall and push Harden to Sunday? The Cubs did this with Zambrano earlier in the year and Harden is much more injury prone.

Once again let's hope they feed off the momentum of this game. I hope Harden isn't too pumped for tomorrow's game that he tries to overthrow and hurt the shoulder again. I also hope the Cubs fans don't expect too much out of him in his first start in Cubbie blue. I'd take six to seven innings giving up only two runs. I don't like Sunday's match-up with Lincecum.

I hope the offense will hit enough for Harden tomorrow early. Then he won't feel like he has to do everything.

Apparently he's (Harden) contacted Frank and told him he'd (Harden) be happy with 7 innings, as well.

marquis has been every bit as dependable and consistent, if not MORE, than lilly. marquis has been fine as a 5th starter. brilliant? no. fantastic? no. superb? absolutely not. but he rarely gets his doors blown off. he gets 5 or 6 and sometimes more innings, and gives the cubs offense a chance.

now may be a good time to move him, if they want to bolster that pen a bit. several teams are starving for pitchers.

god i am tired of these 9th inning heart attacks...aramis does something really cool and then wood almost spoils it...this was not a great game...this was not taking advantage of a really bad team...AT HOME.

they'd better spank SF like a cathouse tomorrow.

To be quite accurate-2 if not 3 balls hit against Marquis today, would have been Homers on a normal day. But the wind was blowing in fairly strong, until about the 7th inning, when it suddenly started to die out. Still, Marquis did not allow any runs and should be given a fair amount of credit for that. He gave his team a chance to win and thats about all that should be reasonably expected of a 5th starter. It was nice to see Cain leave the game and for the Cubs to get a chance against the Giants bullpen. Big knock by Ramirez. Off to a good start.

Theriot should have tagged up, announcers didn't pick up on it. Bad baserunning

Surprising, because Brenly normally points those things out right away.

Brenley defended the move saying Theriot could not tell Rowand was going to catch the ball and wanted to make sure he scored. Not sure I agree with that. No runs in first but a lot of hard hit balls.

I believe he is talking about Lee's ball, not Aramis.

I like what I see so far from Harden. He just needs to stop walking people, that could get him in trouble.
