Can we stop the Go Cubs Win song? It was annoying and gay to start with, now I have to hear it every freakin game. Granted, Jump was just as annoying. Am I the only one with this problem?

I thought this was going to be about the team's sucky play. I guess we all have our priorities.

Yes it is annoying as hell and that it's become some sort of game end tradition at Wrigley makes it even worse. They not only sing it after a victory but sing it on repeat. So lame.

I am just glad when they win, I don't care what they sing.

Rank the ballpark songs -
"Go Cubs, Go" - Steve Goodman
"Na Na, Hey Hey" - Steam
"Don't Stop Believing" - Journey
Death is not an option

With the line "Cubs are gonna win today", playing it AFTER they have already won doesn't make sense.

You're right. Unless it's played between double headers, but then "again" should be added betwixt "win" and "today".

Great observation! I'd rather they play the classic "Hey hey, holy Mackeral..the Cubs are on their way".

The "Go Cubs Go" sounds like a song they would've play on Hee-Haw. :puker: :puker: :puker: :pig:

Hate not. It's better than generic sports rock.

I don't root against the Cubs. I enjoyed watching Jeff Zamardzija getting his first save. But when that song comes on... :tomato: :puker: . If the Sox had that song, I'd still be a Sox fan. I would just have to turn the channel immediately.

The worst part about it is that they play both verses of the song. Can we just have the chorus and be done with it?

As corny as that song is, its 50 years old. Goodman's was written in the 80s I believe, and is much cheesier and more annoying.

There is one thing I think we can all agree on, on both sides of town, and that is "It's a beautiful day for a ballgame" blows. Holla if ya hear me!

What's that song they usually play right before the game starts?

I don't know anybody who likes that one.

Well he wouldn't have had to write it if the Cubs organization hadn't been so upset with his sharper and more darkly humorous "A Dying Cubs Fan's Last Request."

Along with "Bear Down Chicago Bears," best out of any Chicago team songs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xBxZGQ1dJk

I think we all can agree that Pro team songs are rather lame in comparison to college fight songs.

As far as intros go, hawks take it hands down:

-Legends music/video
-Cheering during anthem (UC hasn't been as good as the old barn on this...yet)
-The first part of Here come the Hawks...although the majority of that song sounds like it was turned down from a 70's game show.

Play "Go Cubs Go" for Cub wins, "Dying Cub Fan's Last Request" for losses. Easy solution.

I think a corny theme song or two or three is a requirement for baseball teams. The Brewers have the Beer Barrel Polka. That's a good one.

On a Brewers note, what I can't take anymore is the phenomenon of ballparks telling fans to make some noise. Pat and Ron mentioned this several times tonight, that the screens were telling everyone to "make some noise." The Astros are the worst at this, by far, but having been to Miller Park a few times, it gets pretty obnox there too. That and the hokey-ass graphics for strikeouts and all that shit. Enough already.

That can work for maybe a basketball game, but for large stadium games it's kind of pointless. Baseball games are pretty damn long and are supposed to be enjoyable and at times pretty relaxing. It's not about a couple hours of intense action that requires constant chatter from the fans. Just shut the fuck up and have a hot dog.
