Not a chance. The Nats are a joke. Jim Bowden should have been fired LONG ago. He's decimated this organization. I have no idea why the owners let him handle the signing of top pick Aaron Crow. The kids agent handled the situation badly but they were $900,000 away at the deadline and Bowden refused to budge. Now Crow goes back in the draft and the Nats get a supplemental pick next year. The Nats were lucky to have Crow available at their selection and he would've been the Nats best pitcher, not their best prospect their best pitcher. That's how God awful this organization is. Bowden will more than likely be relieved of his duties this off season because of fraudulent signing bonuses to Latin players but the damage has been done and the Nats won't recover anytime soon.

It's Marquis v. Lannan today. Lannan had a perfect game into the 6th against the Cubs back in April, and Marquis isn't very good. My hope is that the Cubs stop sleepwalking and just unleash against these guys.

Stop sleepwalking? winning their last 7 series is sleepwalking?

Does anyone own the Nationals yet?
No owner in baseball wants to compete against a team they collectively own.

The Cub were kinda sorta sleepwalknig against the Reds. They were not playing very good baseball.

However, the Cub are a good team, and in not playing very good baseball, they should still be able to take 2 of 3 from the Nats, justl ike the Reds

see...I don't go posting in the Sox section 9 times out of 10 because I only know say, 3 guys on their roster? I know more people on the Orioles roster than the Sox. But if it gives Frank pleasure to post here because the Sox boards are too boring or what-have-you, suits me...

I know, right. Far be it for anybody to have a lucid thought about a team outside of thier rooting interest.

Ted Lerner bought the Nationals in 2006.

EVERY team wants to play the Nationals-what are you talking about??? Who wouldn't want to have 3 games against a 45-83 team? It's a chance for pitchers to lower their ERA's, hitters to pad their stats and the manager to rest a couple guys. They should easily take their 8th straight series, with Dempster and Harden following Marquis. Lannan did pitch the Cubs tough his last time out, but that was the first time they had faced him. I'm guessing this time there may be a different story.

I am glad the Nats broke their losing streak last night. Now the Cub can start another one.
Two of three would disappoint me. Then Nats are bad, bad, bad.....

Steve. Re-read my post.
maybe a couple times if it takes a few tries to sink in.

BTW, yes, Nats apparently have an owner now. Who knew.

Yeah-I re-read it and it's still stupid! First off, the team as pointed out to you, has had an owner for some time(Ted Lerner-2006!!!). Secondly, anyone would want to have a series against this sad sack team. It was just a dumb post from all angles. Factually incorrect and stupid.

Yeah-they got their win for the week out of the way, so hopefully Marquis can win today and start a sweep.

The only stupid post Darkside has in this thread is the one about me hopping on to the big blue train.

You're on the train, you're just pretending you're not. You clearly love the Cubs, talking Cubs, watching Cubs, you love going to the rooftops... man you are in Cubbie denial.

I was asking if the Nats had an owner yet. I don't keep my finger on the Natty pulse.
So what I was inferring was that the other teams owners, at one time each partial owners of this team, would get rid of the NATIONALS BEST PLAYERS, so that the other teams would not have to compete against a team that they collectively owned. Which was the case up until late in the season in 06.

Mr. Reason, you have the best tagline of anyone on this board. I'm having a Marx Bros. party at my house tonight.

If the owners chose to collectively conspire to get rid of the Nationals best players, why would they NOT want to play them??? If they are devoid of top notch talent, they are easier to beat, which makes them a very desireable team to play, and YOU the DUMBFUCK!!!
