Nice job by the rook,Colvin getting a walk. A lot of young guys swing at anything in that situation.

I remember those 0-2 very hittable straight as an arrow fastballs that he loves to throw. Good times.

Insane that this rally occurred with 2 outs and Baker being down 0-2

Not too meatbally when he pitches like he has his last two outings. Is that six strikeouts?

It's ironic that Jeff Gray got the win. he was terrible. But he got in the game at the right time to qualify for the win. On paper, the Brewer bullpen looked pretty decent, with Hoffman coming off a good season as the Brewer closer and the Brewers adding Hawkins, who was coming off a real nice year with Houston. but so far Hoffman has blown a couple saves and Hawkins...well, he looked like the LaTroy Hawkins that blew a bunch of games while pitching for the Cubs. I'm starting to wonder which team really has the worse bullpen? Hopefully Zambrano can give the bullpen a bit more rest today with 7 innings or more. With Suppan starting for the Brew crew, the Cubs will face another guy they have seen a lot (like Dave Bush-yesterdays starter). Suppan is trying to keep a spot in the Brewers rotation, so he will have a lot of motivation as well as pressure. Colvin is supposed to get a few STARTS per week according to what Lou said coming out of his great spring training, so he should be looking for a start today as he has not started in either of the first 2 games of this series. Mr. Soriano, your seat is ready....

ive always hated it that a pitcher that blows a lead or sucks shit but happens to be the last pitcher before the offense comes back and scores runs gets a win.

I haven't watched many live games, but does Lou not trust Russell either? He keeps getting pulled after 1 guy, and Gray gave up 3 after him.

I think it is the lefty/righty matchup thing. Didn't see who was up after Russell's lone batter. So far he has only thrown 3.1 innings with 0 walks, 3 hits and 3 strikeouts. Just a young kid that is second in line now when a lefty is needed. Probably will see more of him since Grabow hasn't gotten it done so far (2.2 innings, 5 hits, 4 runs, 2 BB and 2 SO). Hope he doesn't choke in a late inning game, but he probably will a couple of times. Still pretty early to say too much about either. We can say neither is Latroy Hawkins. So we have that going for us.

Will Soriano bitch that he wasn't being given enough notice of his "day off"? He likes to bitch about that.

Trying to listen to Mac and Holmes (Please stop screeching holmes..it is killing me). Jay Z. broke in and said the reason Soriano is off today is because he is horrible against Jeff Suppan. So there you go. Let's check back in Friday morning after Colvin hits for the cycle.

This is the CUbs most solid lineup in my opinion.

Put Baker in for Fontenot, maybe...

Against a lefty, for sure. Against a righty, I think it is more of a wash. Fontenot does have good doubles power, and plays better when at second and while getting routine days off. If that continues the entire season, I could see him hitting a nice .280 or .290 with decent slugging. Not that Baker can't, but I like him moving around the diamond.

No effin way.

Here is to hoping Little Babe Ruth proves me right.

Hope for world peace, it's more likely.

Baker can hit lefties pretty good, and has some power in his bat. If Fontenot can do anything out there against righties, you almost have an adequate major league second basemen between the two of them. Neither one should get more than 300 AB on a good team.

Dammit Z. Keep the pitch count and the ball down already.

Yea, ton of pitches. Seemed like he hit a few corners though that the Ump didn't give him. Hopefully Suppan gets the same strike zone.

Someday he will grasp the idea that a strikeout is only worth one out, just as a 1 pitch ground ball is.
