Adam Dunn please.

great idea, 2 years too late. he wasnt a good fit, if you remember, because he wasnt a "good defensive player" like milton bradley.

at this point, i would go full-blown youth movement and dont sign any expensive talent at all. first base will be interesting though, hard to say who will get that job full-time.

He is coming off a great year, but he has had some up & down years. Should the Cubs pursue him? They have to pop for one superstar before the Cubs convention. A Cliff Lee or/and a Konerko signing would be a nice holiday present for Cub fans.

Jimbo, if it was up to Ricketts, he would have a payroll similar to the Pirates...which may actually be the case in a couple of years. The Cubs aren't signing anyone.

Sad but true.

Looking at this crop, you might as well offer D Lee $5M to come back. Although that ship has probably sailed... nor does it solve the right-handedness of the lineup.

Hendry considering Nick Johnson tells you about the state of the Cubs - a bloated team desperate for a cheap fix. What a joke. Konerko is not an option as the Cubs won't cough up the cash.

right

Johnson is an old retread and was hurt most of this year

if ur gonna concede, at least go with someone who people can have an affinity to...somebody they can look at and think "true cub...he's lovable"...

micah hoffpauir!

Johnson is way better than you think he is. He gets on base about 40% of the time. That's better than anyone the Cubs or Sox have.

No. Johnson sucks. He will be hurt most of the year and will hit for zero power. Best you can say is he'll exhibit good bat control (whatever that is) when he's out there, but he's totally unreliable to stay on the field.

Agreed. He's an injury waiting to happen.

micah hoffpauir!

Hoffpauir was exposed previously as being a AAAA player so he is not the answer. This will be a good test for Hendry which undoutedly will result in faulire. Maybe the scouts will find someone Hendry can trade for but I highly doubt it.

As a .... NL Central division fan, I wouldn't mind to see a D Lee or Nick Johnson patrolling the first base bag over at Clark and Addison..
