So he's not better than Fatty Jenks? (4.44 ERA and 27 saves) I was agreeing with you. Jeez.

Glad to see the typical White Sox fan response present and accounted for in this thread.

No one is saying this is an amazing signing. He did good with the Yankees last year, pending on the contract, this could be a good move for a 7th/8th inning guy

Cubs had WGN TV throw in a televised funeral to seal the deal.

Need a contest...
When is Wood's first trip back to D.L.?
When is his first rehab appearance in Des Moines?
Is that a truckload of towels leaving Wrigley Field heading for Mesa?

although I'm happy he's back, this is no doubt another Bully move by Hendry

Bully in the sense that he got Kerry for low pay...
he ran him out of town 2 years ago because he was too expensive, now he takes advantage of Kerry's kid-in-a-candy-store reaction of coming back to the cubs, and is able to pay him very low

probly got him for 1 or 2 million a year, tops

it's amazing, how he overpays to get outsiders in here, yet once he has u in his clutches, he wants to lowball u or bully u out of town because he thinks everyone is supposed to be Albert Pujols and Cliff Lee

he has no clue how a baseball team truly works...he won't learn anything from what the Giants and Rangers did this year...

he has no clue about personnel...hendry is strictly a business mentality and has no business being a GM...he fits the mold of a CEO or owner

Uhhh....no. Hendry needs to go back to coaching college baseball.

And has this deal even been signed?

No...the Yankees can always outbid the Cubs, but the deal breaker for the Yankees might be the WGN TV televised funeral the Cubs can offer Wood.

Until spring training and the start of the 2011 campaign.

Now Hendry's funeral I will attend.

I have an irrational love for Kerry Wood. He even had me rooting for the Yankees in October so he would have a chance at a ring.

Bringing him back on a good contract, 1 year 1.5m with a team option for the 2nd? Something like that would be just fine with me. Plus, it would make it easier for Ca$hner to move to the rotation

Don't forget the player option at 3.5M.

Does he get a full no trade clause with that?

But of course. That's standard.

If I was him I would ask the Yankees for $10 mill min, for 2 years and if they dont want to pay it go to the Cubs for $2 mill.

No, but I'm guessing at least one of you were playing with yourselves in the waiting room; I'm not saying that's part of the story, mind you ....

The source must be legit. According to Kaplan the deal is currently being finalized.

I want to see what the Cubs will dish out. Good move if low money on a 1 year deal or with a club option. You know Hendry will put a no trade in there however. So much for Wood wanting a ring.

Is this what it's come to for Cub fans? Fantasizing about a deal for Kerry Wood that hasn't even happened? Things are worse than I thought on the North side.
