2010 stats

4/1- Kevin Correia (10-10 5.40era) vs. Dempster (15-12 3.85era)
4/2- Paul Maholm (9-15 5.10era) vs. Z (11-6 3.33era)
4/3- Ross Ohlendorf (1-11 4.07era) vs. Garza (15-10 3.91)

Hilariously bad pitching staff. That said, I'm sure the Pirates will take 2 of 3

Ohlendorf is ok, but that staff is pretty awful. They do have some hitters with McCutchen and Alvarez.

Wow, Correia is the Opening day starter? I guess someone has to go first. I think Ohlendorf might have been their best pitcher last year, and he went 1-11

They will probably be fortunate to win 70 games with that starting rotation.

the cubs will sweep. expectations will be driven unnaturally high. hendry will be criticized for not realizing how good this team actually is, and not opening up the safe full of money under his desk and adding the missing pieces needed to make yet another drive for the championship.

I absolutely love these little series threads. The Cubs are fortunate to miss James McDonald who has a great arm and is a good candidate for a breakout season. They should win 2-3.

If the Cubs don't win at least 2 of 3 against these guys, batten down the hatches!

Fukudome will be batting .800 after this series and finish April with 27 HR's.

He will finish the season with 28 HR's.

We don't have to use Gut Feelings in baseball.

baseball stats > basketball stats

I predict the cubs getting a lead and then handing the game over to the likes of the shark and/or grabow. Hopefully the results will be better this time around.

Cubs usually win there first game of the season about 16-2. They will then lose the next two games after scoring a combined 2 runs.

Weird schedule this year. They don't play the usual one game, then day off either. 6 straight days of games before a day off

That should work nicely for the Cubs, I always thought that day off after the first game screwed up the rest of the season.

I like this more. I'd rather keep watching games than the "Play Monday, have Tuesday off" for the first 2 weeks of the season.

Just looking at the schedule, there seems to be fewer off days during the season than in years past.

To answer shirtless' question, this format will allow for the playoffs to begin on a Friday or Saturday instead of a Tuesday, as the regular season ends on September 28, which is a Wednesday. I think they took weekend ratings potential into consideration for the playoffs, much like how they started the World Series on a Wednesday the last few years, which would put more games into the weekend timeslot (Friday, Saturday, Sunday).

Cubs will sweep

people are underrating this team...

and the Pirates were due to have some success against us last year, after many years of domination

this year, it will be back to normal

lol

nobody is noticing, but we still have the core of the 2008 team in tact

ill bet u we have about half the roster from that team...plus new blood with Castro, Colvin, Pena, and Garza

I am not a homer and love rippin on the cubs as much as anyone but i think the Cubs will be pretty darn good

After seeing that whistler agrees with my Cubs stance, my level of optimism has just taken a hit :(

Fuck it!!!! I will sit on the bandwagon with whistler and we can bully people when they try to jump on in June.

Based off FBB research, I thought Pittsburgh would be slightly improved this year. They will be lucky to win 60 this year. Especially because they don't have a single guy ready for the rotation in the minors. This is your 2011 Pittsburgh rotation, which is one of the worse I can remember. Ever. Stunningly bad.

Cubs take 2 of 3.

Fukudome
Castro
Byrd
A-Ram
Pena
Soto
Soriano
Barney
Dempster

With these players starting, not a single complaint about the order of that lineup

Almost $20 million/yr for the Cubs' #7 hitter.

And they still have him locked up for 4 more seasons.
