Seems like it.

Some might look at stats and say they seem really similar.
Except the 9 SO's by Abreu in 53 AB's v Rizzo's 7 SO's in 45 AB's, very very different.
Nice work by "The Analyst"

Are you saying the strikeout totals are different or are you saying that's what Stone said?

He's still adjusting to America.

I'm just glad to hear that he is going to be far superior to Rizzo. Sounds like money well spent then.

He also said Donny Veal is going to be a great pickup for the Sox. Another Tusconian product that Kenny watched all through HS and college (Pima Community) and told Stone all about the guy as his project.

I guess that is why the Cubs drafted Veal in 2005.

I will guess that no less than 10% of Frank's most recent 100 posts are directed at me, about me or reference me.

Someone else can do the math.

Being a member of the "TRIBE" I am sure Stoney was referring to Abreau's contract

Abreau 6 years/$68M (2014-19) or about $11.333 mil per season
Rizzo 7 years/$41M (2013-19) or about $5.857 mil per season

Easily Jose has a "far superior" contract... making 48.3% more than Rizzo.

As to on the back of the baseball card numbers

surely Jose can out produce Rizzo by 48.3% per year..so based on Rizzo's 2013 numbers look for Abreau to get at least 105 Runs scored, 13 SB, 35 HR, 118 RBI, a .315 Batting Avg and 4.8 WAR

So far Stone Pony is right. Rizzo's dead ass effort was putrid today.

Now we just need to track it the next 5-8 years.

But, Rizzo was terrible today. Even worse than the numbers showed! K is bad, but he made them look real bad,

I don't think my intentions were ever to say Abreu would not be good.I just think when all is done they will have similar avg numbers, or at least one will not be FAR SUPERIOR from the other

Similar batters thru age 23.

1. Ed Stevens
2. Ken Harrelson

Not great, but I'll take that.

He wishes. He'll most likely fall quite a bit short of that.

I am not going to further the Rizzo argument against Abreu that is silly at this point. But the Cubs gave Rizzo $44M why?

Rizzo can't hit left handed pitching. He will never be a clutch player if he can't hit lefties. Managers will always put in a lefty late in the game, knowing he will most likely strike out.

Rizzo needs to bat in the bottom of the lineup or else we are going to see this all year. Men on 1 and 2nd, no outs. Castro ground ball out, Rizzo K, Olt K. Cubs 0

44MIL and you can't hit lefties. Fire Theo!

Not panic. It's disappointment. Were you able to listen to the game or watch? The way Pat described his at-bat was Rizzo was helpless. Going 0-4 with 3Ks doesn't really give encouragement he's adjusted his approach. Lefty on lefty? Well boo hoo Rizzo the league has them.

I listened to part of it.

I ain't saying it wasn't a horrible day for him. But it happens. It was one game, 4 at bats. You cannot tell anything from one game. Maybe he will suck donkey balls this year, but no one knows yet.

Every player in the game will have a game this year just like Rizzo and look just as bad.

One game is all I need. Besides, MLB 2014 agrees that he can't hit left handers. EA sports never gets it wrong.

I think he'll be a solid 275. average 25 home run guy for most of his career.

At this point you should set your sites on the Sox drawing as many fans as the Chicago Sky and forget about the Cubs.

If you're talking about MLB The Show, that's made by Sony. EA has been out of the baseball business for years.

At least most respectable Cub fans are starting to stay away from that. They'll always be the Juiced and cpguy's of Cubdom though.

Holy Fucking Shit. The season is a complete washout, it is very obvious from this critical game that all is lost, why bother playing the rest of the season??!! How could they not be up for this benchmark game in March in Pittsburgh??!! Anthony Rizzo is a disgrace of a player and a disgrace as a human being! It is very clear that he is finished as a ballplayer, and that the Cubs made a big mistake letting Jeff Baker go!

All Cubs fans should simply kill themselves today, all is lost, the world is crashing down around us!! There is no past, present or future with this team, they are doomed and all of their fans are doomed it is a hopeless situation, unlike on the south side where everything points to long-term success with perhaps the greatest first baseman...no, the greatest ballplayer...no, the greatest HUMAN BEING ever to walk the face of the planet!

AAAARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!

PANIC!!!
