That's something that doesn't usually happen. Baez looks like an exception.

We're not talking about "usually". We're talking about a top tier shortstop prospect who has turned into an elite fielder with 20+HR power and 90+ RBI at 22 years old, whose SO's dropped significantly from Rookie to Sophomore and BB's increased...

He struck out 135 times. You're doing just what pittmike said you're doing. Every Cub is just going to get better. I would never tell you that Tim Anderson is suddenly going to master control of the strikezone.

Gordan Beckham was gonna be a sure fire HoF'er...just give him some time to work on that swing and "mature."

Cyberball! No more 68 year old umpires who can't see!

2005 was some serious luck...and ridiculous pitching. The Sox were 35-19 in one run games and 22-8 during the first half of the season.

AHAHAHAH, oh brother.

Great pitching, awesome bullpen, hit for power, above average defense.

1st place wire to wire.

Man, it just kills you, doesn't it?

Um, I'm a Sox who likes to watch fun baseball. I was at WS game 2. You can see me and my Dad on the DVD when Pods is rounding 3rd.

Am I not allowed to think the Theo model is the way to go?

I think you'd obviously have to say Russell, but neither one has much of a career.

Come on.

I think it is likely both teams have a solid SS for the next decade.

I thought he was asking who has had a better career thus far. That's what the tense suggests.

If he's asking who will have a better career when they're done, I have no idea. Russell is certainly the better shortstop. I would guess Anderson might be the more dynamic offensive player because of his speed.

The fact that you couldn't interpret 312's question is on you, my friend.

Not in Western culture. The onus is on the person communicating a thought, not the one receiving it. Maybe he should learn how to type a question properly.

"who has better career..."

In 312 language that is a clearly worded masterpiece. How much clearer do you want it JORR?

Not really. Not more than any other team. And they were the best team in baseball for a large part of 2006. The pitching just got ragged at the end from all those extra innings. It's not easy to win once, let alone repeat.

The Cubs are running up against teams with serious injuries. That's luck too, isn't it?

Yes.

But, I feel like 2005 had a "how the hell is this happening?" vibe, especially in the playoffs. That's how I remember it anyway. Balls through the wickets, drop 3rd K...

Oh, sure, as a matter of procedure. But we're talking 312 here. You telling me his English isn't impeccable and completely impossible to misinterpret?

Many Cubs fans have said similar things though.

It's more about the shock that the team you root for is finally winning it all.

Funny thing is if ya changed Theo to Hahn and Cubs to Sox, he actually makes some sense.

It doesn't matter. The Cubs, as always, are much more focused on profitability

since 2016....bad bad bad

time to start thinking about launching this guy

heyward
darvish (over jake)
chatwood

quintana trade
still no drafted pitching

dirtiest move is shifting focus away from his failures and pinning the spotlight towards maddon. what a snake

it essentially mirrors what happened in boston, where he was run out of town in a gorilla suit

There was a myth forwarded by apologists that John Henry MADE him spend bad money on free agents

Theo is great at building up a team from zero. Just not very good when he needs to add on to a championship team. It is weird how he can be great at the hard part and suck at what you would think would be easy.

He should have been saving up for Harper by not signing Darvish/Chatwood and trading a couple "2nd core" guys after 2016 while they still had value. Instead he has lost most of the value the "2nd Core" guys and lost out on Harper by signing Heyward to that awful deal. It pains me to see Heyward in RF, when it could have been Harper or at the very least Eloy.

The thing is that this is the way it is supposed to work. A person in charge has about a 10 year lifespan. Theo said it himself. They did it according to the plan and you simply have to hope you got as many WS wins as possible. So far one looks like not enough to satisfy fans of the process.

I'm sure Theo wishes he could go back to Boston.
