Saw the story that they might call him back up before the break and thought, that seams dumb. Then I saw the story about hating leadoff and realized they had doubled down on dumb.

Yeah that seems silly to me simply because its so close to the AS break. The Cubs have 3 (or 4?) games left before the break. Let him continue to work in Iowa, and then have him start in LF and bat 6th or 7th the first game back.

Right.. Treat him like a rookie and take the pressure off as much as you can. I didn't watch him down in Iowa but my guess is he was still trying to pull everything in sight as that habit isn't going to change in 10 games. Honestly Id just rather have Jay and Almora platoon if you must. Although I think I've seen enough of Zobrist as well..

Maddons postgame comments were infuriating.
It's not entertaining watching non may pitch. It's sad.
Rock paper scissors to determine which position player lobs bp to the first place team? Not funny.
GFY.

And fuck you Joe, Lester shouldn't have been in the game anyways!!!!!

CJ High Leverage OPS Against: .786 (35% of batters faced)

CJ Med. Leverage OPS Against: .330 (33% of batters faced)

CJ Low Leverage OPS Against: .392 (32% of batters faced)

Maddon put (or allowed to stay in) Carl Edwards Jr. in the situations he was absolutely least-equipped to pitch effectively, and those situations were also the times in which runs would be most hurtful to the team.

He should be fired for that alone, that's Matheny-esque levels of mismanagement.

That's fine, but besides Davis, the rest of the pen is trash. Strop is ok.

Eh, except Davis is the trashiest of them all in non save situations. I don't have the stats, but I think he has given up runs in almost every non save appearance this season.

Strop is .50+ points better for his career in high leverage situations than CJ, Rondon .100+ better in OPS Against. Neither faced more batters in high leverage situations than CJ.

Same thing as Chapman last year with the multiple inning shit. He keeps putting guys in positions that don't play to their strengths and we say 'the bullpen sucks'.

No, it sucks regardless.

He had to do SOMETHING with Edwards Ankieling out there. Davis was the best option without question.

That the best option is still not all that great only proves the point about the week bullpen.

This is why I would have given Kenley Jansen a blank check

That makes a lot of sense to me. Just depends on whether or not he is willing to be away from his family as much as that would cause him to be.

Yeah Strop threw 2 innings yesterday, but hadn't pitched since April 30 prior to that. He should have been used. No defending this fuckery. Get his stupid charade out of town.

I've been watching the latest Curb Your Enthusiasm season, and I am picturing Chili Davis being portrayed by Leon (JB Smoove). "Rizzo, you gotta bring the ruckus to the ball."

Javy batting any lower than 6th when leading the NL in RBI is inexcusable. Also a fucking joke to have Addy batting in front of Baez.

I don't remember who said it, but baseball players are def creatures of habit. All this fucking around with the lineup is ridiculous. The players responded so well with Almora at leadoff, and Javy at 2.

Maddon is beyond frustrating.
