Stop embarrassing yourself. Of course they are tanking. They traded away one of the best pitchers in baseball for a group of prospects. Right there, you have your answer.

But then just to hammer it in, mid season they've traded a bunch of veterans that would have helped them win games for more prospects.

And they are 31.5 games back in a division with the woeful Tigers and Royals.

I don't really disagree with anything else you posted, but to use this is sort of silly since the Indians haven't lost a game since June. The Twins lead the 2nd AL Wild Card by 3 games, yet they are 13 back of the Tribe.

They are now 18-25 since August 1st after winning 5 of the last 6.

Isn't "competitive" the standard your people used in the early years. Yes, I think they will be competitive.

It was my sig for a while. I don't remember the exact quote, but it was something to the affect of "a 2005 White Sox situation would be a failure."

I remember reading it. I'll try to find the post later if I can. He was talking about the Cubs building a dynasty but if they only won one Championship, like the 2005 White Sox did, it would be a failure to him. Of course he'd enjoy the one Championship as it would have ended the drought, but he wanted more. In some ways I admire that one wasn't enough, but now he wont even stand behind what he said. Sad.
