If a manager can maintain his job after 100 losses, to me, that's the manager of the year.

mediocre latino male? grifol's fault that vaugh, as the cut-off man - swatted away a one-hop throw from the outfield and the tigers added a run on a bad news bears play. i thought stone was going to have a cerebral hemorrhage on that play. len didn't even groan...though i'm sure he knew MLB network purposely ignored the game he was calling in favor of showing clubs fighting for a playoff spot.

I dunno. What's the new narrative to "Being prepared each and every day to kick ass at 7:10"? What's the new narrative to "establishing clubhouse leadership in ST"?

As recently as last week Eloy was asked if leadership was discussed in the clubhouse...."not really".

I'd like to hear the new narrative. Did management tie his hands? Why is Grandal still here and playing? Even more mind boggling, why's Trayce Thompson still sniffing around? He the new clubhouse leader???? Sad!

Didn't I happen to hear in that crap that Reinny laid out in the Sox press conference how he loved the job that Gets was responsible for teaching great sox fundamentals through the Sox system? What a fucking lie that is.

10-15 over the closing strech gets them to 99 losses.

This is gonna result in like the 7th pick in the draft... Right now, they are at 4th or 5th pick.

Turned on the Sox game in the 6th inning. 12-0 Royals and Stone and Bennie were chattering like magpies to pass the time until they could run out of the booth and go home. The team that the White Sox are fielding and in their minorleague system is the worst I've ever seen. Move this crap out to Oakland and let the drug addicts take em.

they got wasted by the A's who at the time were the worst team in baseball. Now the Royals are the worst team in baseball and they got rolled. maybe they decided to tank now the last month of the season?

They do have a minor league pitching staff on most days now so it's not particularly surprising to see them get pounded. At this point, just keep losing, get a top pick and head into the off-season. There needs to be an overhaul here, but the rush to compete quickly will probably mean patchwork fixes for 2024.

The point is mocking the Sox for disqualifying Chipper Jones. If they had him in their farm they could have traded him for a ransom. When he was brought up, he played LF actually.
SS Chipper Jones was such a commodity that noted ace Todd Van Poppel ranked higher on the Braves draft board.

Quote:
The Atlanta Braves selected Jones as the first pick overall in the 1990 Major League Baseball draft and signed him to a contract with a $275,000 signing bonus. Atlanta expressed a desire to select pitcher Todd Van Poppel as the first pick; however, Van Poppel explicitly stated that he would not sign with the Braves. Atlanta then selected Jones, who played shortstop at the time.

2 of the Eloy, Jackie, Moncada trio have to go this offseason . you can’t run this same
group out there again and expect different results when they haven’t produced results. They will
keep Vaughn.

Moncada is going to bumslay himself into a decent looking season at the end. Astute watchers know the truth but that guy will sit back, satisfied, and eat another box of twinkies.

Vaughn...we were promised more. I never saw it, but all those scouts said so. You can live with him while he's cheap.

If Vaughn isn’t popped for PEDs at least once, I’ll be convinced he never gave a shit.

22 HR , 30 doubles and 80 RBI’s isnt a terrible season. Andrew Vaughn isn’t what’s wrong with this team. There is a long list of 3rd overall picks who never had a season even approaching those numbers .

I don’t hate the guy; I think he’s a legitimate professional baseball player. He’s limited by a lack of power for a guy who sucks at defense.

They aren't particularly good numbers for a first baseman. Sure, if he were an elite shortstop his offense would be fine. Instead he's a first sacker the size of Freddie Patek.

Without looking I’m willing to bet Vaughns projected numbers are about average for MLB first basemen
this year

Post subject:  Re: 2023 Regular Season games thread

and we were told he was a pure hitter with a great eye, the kind who would be hitting .300 plus with an OBP in the upper .300s and that he had good defense

I don't see a guy who will get there. He's ok, just not what we thought. I give him a lot of credit for being a good soldier as the Sox moved him at the mlb level to positions he never played. This should have been his year.
