Maybe before he bounces, LTG orders a lot of Dodgers garb when he is there every year for two weeks

I know it’s a purely anecdotal but in Japan it was Yankees (by a lot), Dodgers and then (kind of surprisingly) White Sox.

window closed fast.

That Covid season tricked them into thinking all their young prospects were blue chippers. Only to learn that league caught up with most of them the following year.

That's why they traded Madrigal. He made some rookie mistakes but they read it like he wasn't as good as the supposed blue chippers and traded him away.

Worst farm development system in baseball. They fuck up prospects so bad they constantly have to demote them, like Montgomery.

they were voted the best farm system for many years in the early and mid 2010s. I remember someone on Murph's show - the white sox farm guy - saying if this team doesn't win a WS in 5-6 years something is wrong. That was back in 2017.

It sounds like they do a good job developing but when the guys hit the majors, it's really a crap shoot. For every team its a crap shoot when these guys get to the majors.

Andrew Vaughn is their latest farm "gem". He's a 25 year old Eric Hosmer, no power and one of the worst defensive first baseman in baseball

The only real change is they no longer have a lot of minor league talent.

it's because he feels utter joy at the failure of the white sox because of fans like you who shit on us calling every white sox prospect that came up during 2020 a hall of famer even before the took their first AB. Like Andrew Vaughn, Crochet, Madrigal, Lou Bob, Cody, I can go on and on. Now that there is egg on your faces Caller Bob has every right to glee.

good dolphin was also guilty in this.

I can't blame caller bob for this obsession. It's probably very cathartic for him considering the hate he gets on these forums.

Since this genius thought starting this thread, the sox went 417-475 for a rocking .467 winning percentage.
As far as things that didn't change... you are wrong a lot and never admit it.

[quote="Darkside"]Read the list again. It wasn't saying that the White Sox were about to become the Yankees. It was about the untapped potential they have. It had nothing to do with short term success though the minor league talent thing was part of it but it didn't work out.

And after 6 years none of that potential became tapped. Or were you referring to 10 years in the future?
Or...
Were you trying to troll cubs fans right after their world series win?

Either way, you fucked up.

I didn't put a timeline on it but if you read the original post most of the things haven't happened yet.

It seems like you are acting like this thread meant the White Sox were going to be winning championships very soon. This is about what the White Sox could be including a new owner/stadium.

I don't know why you thought this was about trolling Cubs fans. How could it do that?

One of them worked out and Kopech might. What is with us with only being able to develop pitching? You think if TB collected Moncada, Eloy, and Robert, they'd be good? I haven't given up on Vaughn but he seems to have warning track power.

Do you believe if we traded for established MLB players instead, we'd be better off? Or kept Sale, Quintana, Melky, and Eaton? The only trade I disagreed with was Sale. But only because the Atlanta package seemed better at the time. Also prospects.

They just aren't a well run organization any more. Maybe we need an age limit for owning a team if even the second greatest owner in Chicago sports history can't get it done any more. Father Time is undefeated.

I don't think Tampa would collect Moncada, Eloy, and Robert.

What I think is you don't trade the best pitcher in team history for ANY package of prospects. You don't let your top players walk to replace them with guys who aren't as good. And you don't sign guys who play for a different team every year to long deals.

Do I think they could have kept Sale, traded Quintana, added a couple just below the top free agents and won the Central in 2017 and/or 2018? Yeah. And who knows what happens after that if Sale and one other guy are at their sharpest in October.

But this isn't just about the Sox. Imagine if the Cubs weren't in Season 2 of a tank cycle this year and had made moves to have real players in place of Hosmer, Torrens, and Mancini. They'd probably be a real contender instead of just a tease of a future that probably won't happen.

I hear you. There's also a tanking discussion about the Bulls. They decided to not tank. This is kind of an emotional thing. It could be said that when you have hope vs run of the mill mediocrity, you're going to choose hope. But when the tank dies in a fire, that's the worst.

That's the killer. They have the same April record right now that they had in 2018 (100 loss season).

Like it or not, tanking has had success. I don't pretend to know all the team histories, but looking at recent world series champs, could argue 5 of the last 8 were teams riding the wave of having tanked previously. Gives the team a better shot to stockpile high picks and trade vets for prospects. But, you also have to hit on those picks/prospects. Unfortunately, the White Sox "tanking wave" looks to be crashing around them.

I much preferred it when teams tried to win and didnt throw away mutiple seasons on the basis of “maybe these guys will hit”
