They got one legit prospect and a bunch of B/B+ level pitchers without trading everything that wasn't nailed down. I'll choose to be optimistic. In the AL Central, there's no need to do a second total rebuild in a decade. It doesn't take much to contend for a division title.

Optimistic I can understand. But they have no pitching. That is a major problem.

You aren't winning a bad division with no pitching.

They didn't have pitching THIS year. One starter and two relievers. The rest had their heads up their ass.

Right and it is going to be even worse next year. They at least had some established guys that could have had a good year this year. Next year unless lady luck shines on them like 3 times then it is going to be bad bad.

Faith is more tangible. Hope is blind faith.

Faith in Dick Hahn is the worst of things.

Katz better be gone. I think a replacement level pitching coach can improve a pitcher slightly and at the very least not make them worse. Unless this team can figure out run prevention through pitching and most importantly through defense they are going to suck for a long time.

Not opposed. Think of all the pitchers they made better over the years and compare that to what the Sox have done lately. Couldn't be much worse.

Definitely. I've been saying this for the last two years.

Now we need Cease to really go on a run these next two months. Obviously they were shopping him. I don't interpret it that the market wasn't good. I think Hahn was looking for the #1 prospect in baseball.

I'd be a little pissed if I were an Orioles fan. They have been patient. The minor leagues are stocked, even if they gave up a top player. Cease isn't a rental and cost effective to go get additions in FA for next season. It was time to go for it. I've always been an O's guy and I don't think they helped themselves for the playoffs

Or maybe they just werent wowed by his 4 wins , 4 plus ERA and 5 innings per start they could count on.

But he SHOULD be an easy fix. Top 10% starter stuff doesn't need to waste pitches... More he struggles with command the farther his drift to 1st. Stop it.... Pitch inside. NEVER pitches inside to righties.

That's it. Fixed.

All you need is one GM to be wowed and think they can fix a guy like this, and you can get a King's ransom....

4-8, 4.49 ERA at the time of the trade

If it can happen to Saint Theo, it can happen to any MLB GM

I will. Hard to beat the old one though.

Four Roses is an old man whiskey. Nardi is showing his age.

Maybe, but then they acquired a guy with worse numbers as their signature move for this year's playoff run. So, maybe not.

Four Roses is incredibly overrated....I'll drink it, but there are numerous better options.

His first start was not exactly great either.

This is what Giolito does. He goes out there and has good stuff, then next time out he gets shelled. He's like Javy Vazquez with less strikeouts.

cbs appears to like what the white sox did in this trade deadline, getting four of the top 15 prospects moved, including #1

MLB Pipeline has Acuna comfortably in front of Quero. CBS was also pretty negative on Gilbert.

Liam Hendricks just had TJ surgery.

That does not help the pitching situation moving forward.

Well, he had a $15M option. So, the Sox either pick it up next year and pay it out in 1 year, or pick it up over a period of time. Not sure if it is paid over 10 or 15yrs.

A bunch of pitchers with injury histories and a second baseman who can't field.

Let the half-assed rebuild begin!

I'd love to be wrong about this.
