Kevan Smith is back on the Sox, as Soto went on the DL yesterday. I wish they would get rid of Soto and go with Narvaez & Smith for the rest of the season.

I think he is a viable MLB level backup catcher. Not sure what the ceiling is on him as he is already 28 years old.

He will never make it. He had a few bad ABs last year with last team. Only Cub prospects work.

Moncada's strikeout rate is eyebrow-raising, there's no doubt, and it shouldn't be completely ignored. That said, K-rates at higher minor league levels don't actually foretell MLB struggles, at least not as much as sky-high rates at the lower levels of the minors. It's counter-intuitive, but research has shown it's the guys with 30%+ K-rates in A-ball that tend to struggle in the MLB, more so than guys with similar rates at AA and AAA.

As for his 2016 MLB stint, it was plainly irrelevant. The Sawx were in the midst of a playoff push, and couldn't deal with a rookie struggling at the plate, whatever the cause, be it related to actual talent or sample size or anything else.
