Was one game enough to know what he was before? He's the only Sox starter with a playoff win.

Yeah his other playoff start was 7 scoreless innings. BigW is still depressed from the playoffs.

The 2021 NL Cy Young winner at #9 and the AL winner didn't even make the list. Very sad!

I've thought for at least a year that he was going to run to southern california at the first opportunity free agency provides. If the Sox think that as well, what does it hurt to play hardball in arbitration.

Because he seems overly emotional and they need him to pitch well if they’re going to win anything?

Something that he personally needs to figure out if he wants to fool someone into believing that he's an ace on the open market. He's done nothing to justify his diva tendencies.

Sure, but wouldn’t you rather he figure that out after he helps the Sox win a WS rather than when it comes time for Jerry to save $50k?

I think Giolito is a good #2 and a great #3. He isn't the guy that I want to have the ball in an important game. Especially on the road.

He also could have taken $50k less. The Sox aren't obligated to bend over for him.

It’s $50k. How petty do they have to be?

Yeah the guy that ran out of gas and publicly blamed his manager for not getting him out of the game because he couldn’t suck it up sure seems like a guy you want to invest your money in

Never saw confirmation on that. Saying that though, stay away from actresses.

He's going to leave because the Sox will never pay him what he can command on the open market. However, they have a reputation to develop and/or uphold. Playing hardball with him over $50k is not going to do anything positive for that reputation.

Sox were right to hold money back from this fraud. You wanna be paid like an ace? Shut the opposition down when you're staked a 5 run lead.

I agree that he is a fraud, he is fools gold. He know this isn't a 1:1 comparison because of the their arsenals, but he is a Jon Garland. You think he could be an ace, but he just fucks it up. There is no mental toughness with this kid.

I said this about Giolito when they traded Dunning, instead of him.

The Sox should trade him before they lose his rights. He will bring a very good player in return.

Frankly, he's pretty good with what stuff he has. Which means he's a good pitcher. You are always going to have peaks and valleys with these type of pitchers, but as time goes on, like Buehrle, the valleys will become less frequent. It's all about finding the groove to throw it in the teacup. He'll find it and when he does, like Buehrle, he's an ace for that limited period of time. That 1.5 WHIP he has now is an anomaly.

Plus he bought a big ass last offseason. Why? Because he runs out of gas. So give it some time.

An ace is dependable. You knew that Buehrle would go out there and battle nearly every game. You felt great when you gave Buehrle a 5 run lead. You felt good about giving Buehrle the ball against a great team. You can't say that about Giolito because he's not an ace and never will be. He's an entitled kid with some really good tools.
