Bradley, Swihart or Benintendi off the table?

Still better than the garbage Nats offer.

Jones/Kopech/Burdi/Fulmer is a nasty bullpen.

Now just need to find an ace

You think so?

Did not see the need to trade Sale unless it was something so amazing that it could not be passed up. Three years of Sale for prospects. I doubt this package of players will exceed his career production going forward. Especially with the White Sox developing them.

Sale will get killed by the New England media sooner than later too.

I'm expecting JORR to post that Moncada will be lucky to have the career Ray Durham did at any moment .

Needed one more piece like Devers or Swihart to make this a good deal. I think Hahn heard "Ok, we'll give up Moncada" and just said yes. If Moncada isn't an absolute monster this trade will go down as one of the worst in MLB history.

He didn't strike out in 8 or his 20 plate appearance during his September call-up, so He had that going for him.

Is there a good reason Swihart couldn't come back? Is this just never going to do anything about the catcher position?

No way. One of my favorite Sox from that era.

Baez 2.0?

Doesn't seem like enough. But they were in a catch-22 - the teams that had the best prospects need those prospects to win in 2017 or 2018. The teams that could have put together a package greater than what the Red Sox gave them (like Atlanta) have no realistic chance in winning in 2017.

I don't think they could have gotten more at the deadline, and there was too much risk that Sale would either become a real jackass or ruin his arm.

But Moncada has to give them 5 years (2018-2022) of at least .850 OPS and average defense at 2B for this trade to make any sense.

Eaton
Anderson
Abreu
Frazier
Moncada

That's a hell of a top 5 of your lineup.

Baez 2.0?

Unlike Anderson or Baez, has a good walk rate and should raise his floor quite a bit. But I don't think he has the glove of either one of them either. I think he is projected as an average defense 2nd baseman.

Much like dealing with the Cubs, I can't help but feel him being a Red Sox inflates his prospect status a bit.

Spiegs and Rozner like they picked a lane and "hope" this is only the beginning. Bernsie chimes in with authoritative "better be".

I sure wouldn't bet on him being better than Durham. I wouldn't have traded Sale. THIS. IS. THE. PROBLEM. WITH. TELLING. YOU. EXACTLY. WHAT. THEY. ARE. GOING. TO. DO. It was like they made a decision to trade Sale and got what they could. That's not a decision I would have made. I would have made it clear I was comfortable keeping him.

Yep. Drove down the price. They will suck for the next three years now. How fucking exciting.

I don't like the move, but I also find it offensive that they are tanking. This nullifies any future success they have.
