Relievers are an incredibly fickle bunch. Santos is probably at peak value and could be mediocre or bad next year. Also, having a good relief pitcher on this team is like owning a Ferrari and living on a dirt road.

They got two guys for Santos who could be contributors in 2025, when they actually have a chance at competing, plus a high draft pick. If they keep Cease, they will also have him in 2025.

We've seen what a full rebuild looks like, it's three years of losing and no guarantee of success. As far as I'm concerned, they can middle it.

Yeah I guess I can see all that.

But the biggest issue on this team currently is pitching. And you just gave away a talented arm that is pretty cheap for a few years.
