fairly good play-by-play...seems affable enough.

when you get your 15 mins on the score to talk about the cubs, that's the time i need to rake the leaves. i realize you know better than anyone else, who butters your bread - but your reluctance to give any semblance of an opinion than can be construed as 'negative'; disappointing. disappointing, because i figure that you're-in-the-know.

yesterday, you told cub fandom not to 'over-react'.

ok.

Hi All,

Len Kasper here (yes, it's really me). If there is a moderator who can confirm it's me via my registration information, that would be great. I used to occasionally do Cubs.com message board Q&As but that doesn't exist any longer and I've checked this board occasionally just to see what fans are saying outside of the Twitter world. I kinda like the "old school" nature of message boards sometimes. Anyway, if you have any questions or SUGGESTIONS (yes!), let me have 'em. Hope you're all doing well, thanks. Len

Whatcha been got goin on? Better update that username.

you get a clean slate as far as I'm concerned as a broadcaster

The unchallenging style doesn't fly with Sox fans. It might give you a job for life with Reinsdorf, however its only a job for HIS life and he will be 85 in a couple of months.

He’ll definitely sleep better knowing that.

Sox can reform him like they did with Steve Stone.

Yup. Sure he will be getting less money too.

I really don't have any idea if he's good or not. I don't watch Cub broadcasts and I certainly don't care what a Cub fan thinks about anything concerning baseball.

As I mentioned before, they brought in the guy who used to run the YES Network to run Marquee. Wow, imagine that, some asshole from the Yankees immediately makes the work environment unnecessarily strict and stressful.

All of that plus Sinclair ownership must be a joy

I've been watching today's broadcast and it's an odd sound. And with him awkwardly calling Robert's bomb.

Over on the Cubs side, Pat Hughes did TV with Jim Deshaies yesterday. They were calling the game from a studio. No suits. Hearing Pat on TV was pleasant. I wouldn't have minded if the Cubs had gone with a simulcast after Chip and Stone left in 2004. One team, one voice.

who watches any significant amount of pre season baseball?

That's being pretty hard up for entertainment.

Len sounded sad tonight. Even as a Sox fan I have to admit it sounds like Len misses the spotlight of doing Cub games.

Len & Stone are a decent pairing. He’s still a little bland for my taste but he’s a competent play by play guy.

Len and stone are awesome. Makes this the tv team. They are so natural and the baseball insights are great. Binetti can move over to the radio with his ra-ra act.

Completely agree. It's not Jason's fault either, but he is not aesthetically pleasing to the eye (so to speak) for tv.

I knew it! Someone accused me of being him. No.

I am actually liking Len. A lot. Farmio was Farmio, but Len is a pro, and he prepares well.

On tv when Benetti is on ESPN.

Len, love your suit, but a moment of your time.

Radio is theatre of the mind.

You need to provide the picture to the listener, that has been provided to you for years by the camera men or women.

Hope this helps you. I'm sure it will help your listeners.

Best regards,
Crest

What prompted this comment? He's a hell of a lot better at providing "the picture to the listener" than Farmer or Masur. I have absolutely no complaints about his work on the radio.

Len's a little slow on the uptake, no? It feels he's on tape delay when describing the action. You say "nardi, how would you know?" There's a finality to the play with crowd noise that Len seems to be constantly behind of in his call.

I liked Masur.

I attribute most of that to not being in the stadium for road games. Also, he gives you more information about what's happening than Masur. Connor reminds me a lot of Masur. He's someone who is just trying to clearly explain what happened, nothing more/nothing less.

He's fine, I guess. I'll just have to get used to his "putting his stamp" on the broadcasts. It's early. It's far easier to like radio guys because they are our only link to the action. It's a pretty big advantage.
