I stand by all of it. The Cubs came in and bought Quintana because of his contract and it bailed the Sox out of a monumental blunder.

To somehow get Robles or even Soto from the Nationals for Robertson and Kahnle/Swarzak (all three for Robles I would do in an instant) would push things over the top. But i think if that were possible the Sox would've done it already, I just don't think the Nationals like Robertson that much and instead have their sights set on other prizes. Would they settle for Robertson if he's the last option? Sure, but it'll be a cold day in hell before they give up Robles for any Sox player currently on the 25 man.

I would love to be wrong, just as I am now loving being wrong about Quintana.

Nationals acquired LHP Sean Doolittle and RHP Ryan Madson from the Athletics in exchange for RHP Blake Treinen, LHP Jesus Luzardo and 3B Sheldon Neuse.

So much for that.

I would've done Luzardo and Neuse for Robertson if the Nationals were willing to eat the money. Still, it's not the kind of return I'm gonna freak out over missing out on. There are other destinations for Robertson.

Nats being out hurts, but there is a reason that deal wasn't done by now. Not sure this deal is what Nats needed. Seems like Frazier and Drob makes a lot of sense for Boston. If Yanks decide they are still in it a deal for Frazier/Robertson makes sense too. Wouldn't be shocked to see Yanks make a play for Abreu.

I would venture to guess, If Moncada was not Cuban, Jose would be going with a Melky in the package.
