He is going to be AMAZING! I wish they would stop playing this control game, and let him figure things out the rest of this year.

The White Sox are just screwing themselves by not bringing him up. They aren't going to have 6 yrs control in the new CBA. They are WASTING Major League development time. Just pissing it away. Just like last year with Eloy.

I have never watched an inning of Charlotte whatevertherenameis baseball, even when its simulcast in Chicago.

Madrigal sucks. No pop no power. Stolen bases overrated.

Man your baseball posts are just a real pile of shit consistently.

He seems to be getting hot again after a rough 15 or 20 games. Hopefully we'll get the chance to see him in September.

he's almost at a 30-30 season in less than 500 AB

Also, it looks like Collins is a different player since he was sent down. He's hitting for average, power and still drawing walks. He has to be up in September and has to be given a full shot next year. He has to get at least 500 MLB AB next year and 65 catching starts.

What do you do with McCann?

Trade him off and hope this season was an aberration?

EDIT: I guess if Collins takes the place of Usain Bolt that'd be fine with both McCann and Collins.

McCannon is arbitration eligible. I would keep him as the regular catcher for next season. A lot of the pitchers seem to like throwing to him, and he can be sort of a mentor to Collins.

yep. I'd make him prove himself. Even if he shows this was not a fluke, after next year he will be a 31 year old catcher hitting the FA market with a spotty history. He'll be affordable.

McCann also might be the type of guy who could hang around the Sox for a while after in a backup role, then move into coaching if JERRY???? really ends up liking him. Sort of a Grampa McCannon if you will.

If he's on the big club, He HAS to have 500-600 PA. He can't be evaluated with less because of his hitting approach.

Robert almost has to be called up in Sept, and be penciled in as the starting CF in 2020. Adam Engel is an AAAA player/late inning defensive replacement at best and Leury Garcia has had himself a nice season, but he is nowhere near as talented as Robert.

The Sox lineup is littered with guys who are nice utility players but shouldn't be everyday starters.

They won't bring Robert up this year.

He isn't coming up before May of next year if he doesn't sign a long term deal.

Next year isn't going to be a championship year either, I'm sorry to say. There are far too many developing players to count on to carry a division winner.

My guess is they sign some RF/DH type on a short term deal. Leury starts in center with Yolmer at 2B. Leury moves to 2B when Robert is called up then to the bench when/if Madrigal gets here. Collins starts the season as the DH/C/1B but is in the lineup every day. It's sink or swim time at 25 and we know nothing about him.

The better catching prospect is Mercedes who has hit over .300 with very good power numbers. He also has a very good percentage at throwing runners out.

Robert hit another HR for Charlotte last night, bringing his total up to 13 (with 32 RBI and a 1.025 OPS) in 155 AB at AAA.

Overall, his AAA stats are equal to or better than his AA stats. Very impressive.

I can't wait until next season. My line-up prediction is:

SS - Anderson

CF - Garcia

3B - Moncada

1B - Abreu

RF - Robert

C - McCann

LH- Jimenez

2B - Sanchez

DH - Mercedes

That is a very solid line-up with both high average guys and power guys throughout it. Also has some good speed at the top of it. I know Mercedes is pretty much just a hunch but I think if they give this guy a solid chance he could be a good major league player. He actually has better power stats than Robert and has hit over .300 in both 2A and 3A.

The DH hitting 9th, and Leury over Robert in CF?!

Use FF's $100 to buy a rope and hang yourself.

That's right. I really like Garcia in that he can play multiple positions both in the infield and outfield and play them well. He's a valuable keeper and is a decent top of the order hitter with speed.

They are not gonna start any clock outside of a pitcher with a callup anywhere in the season. IF Robert is a Sept callup, you are gonna be waiting that much more time at the start of next season.

Please explain what the "clock rule" means. I thought that the "clock" excluded players brought up at the end of the year.

That's also what I thought. My understanding is that service time is only accumulated by players on the 25-man roster and thus doesn't apply to minor leaguers called up when rosters expand. Is this incorrect?

I don't trade McCann unless his demands are out of the realm of reason. He is one of their top over-all players. He's always been very good defensively and I doubt this season he is having is an aberration. What we might see next year is the Sox having three guys who can catch in McCann, Mercedes, and Collins. Both Mercedes and Collins can play 1B, C, and DH. McCann would be the stating catcher in at least 2/3 of their games for sure because he is the much better catcher of the three.

Mercedes is an intriguing guy. He's had problems giving up a lot of passed balls in previous years, but I don't think that's been an issue this year. He seems to have a great arm and obviously ha a strong bat. Let's hope he's a September call up--I'd love to get a look at him.
